Hello all,
Weekend before last I brewed my second batch of beer. It is a Honey Nut Brown Ale and it is currently in my Secondary. It is currently Very Clear BUT I had a problem with Chill Haze in my last brew and want to avoid the same problem. I have used Isinglass Finings before (in Wine and Beer) and was wondering. If I cooled my Secondary to say 35 deg.F so that Any Chill Haze would show up and then added my Isinglass would that settle out the Haze??
Also, How long should I age this Honey Brown?
Thanks :mug:
Randy

When I keg, I add gelatin and polyclar. Polyclar seems to be real good at removing chill haze. The trick is to refrigerate the beer prior to racking into the keg (lagers are already down to 35 or so) so that the haze forms then add the polyclar as it is racked. I force carbonate, so that agitates the polyclar.

The polyclar is fine beads (smaller than grains of salt) of PVC that bind to the partciles in suspension, and taken them down to the bottom as sediment.

My beer comes out crystal clear and I've been asked if I filter.

Isinglass will work on chill haze.

Browns mature early, 3-4 weeks (including secondary time) should do it.
