I have a 1 gallon batch of cider that is currently cold crashing in my keezer. I want to add cinnamon and (maybe) cloves but not sure about the best method for doing so. Can I just throw a cinnamon stick and clove into the secondary and let it sit for awhile at cellar temp? Do I need to soak them in alcohol prior to kill bacteria? Thanks

I've read through past threads that you can make a liquid with the desired spices and boil that liquid if you want to be safe, but it is probably not needed.

I am curious as well about this whole subject (I'm a newbie). I dont want to have sediments in my cider after it's bottled either (after the spices settle).
