howdy!
just a question that i thought of.. made the mistake of not using a hop bag
for whole leaf hops... i was a little toasty at that point, thought if some of them went in, it'd totally be fine in the fermenter..
spring forward about 3 weeks after i put it in the fermenter. i opened the fermenter to what smelled like satan ate asparagus and then pee'd into a bottle of beer.... wasn't infected, but just smelled really highly of soon to be rotten veggies with no hop smell at all.
Closer inspection found left over very stark white ((????)) hops floating on the surface, then i knew what it was. (it was about a 1/4oz of hops in a 1.5gal batch, so it was a good amount in there)
is this a problem with whole leaf hops in a boil and fermented? because i know dry hopping of course will be fine
or will pellet hops do this as well? i'm asking because i made a porter about a week ago, and tossed in the pellet hops into the boil, after opening this batch i'ma little worried
