Hey guys I may or may not have an issue. I brewed an extract kit called “The Toll” from Atlantic brew supply. The OG I got was 1,140, 5 days later I tested and so far I’m sitting at 1,032 which according to the calculator is 14.17%! I tested my hydrometer in water and got 0998. I followed the directions on the photo I posted. Could this really possible?

Are you sure about that OG? Seems kind of high based upon those instructions. On extract kits if you follow instructions the OG is usually spot on.

C&P from older post:

With an extract kit, if you got a gravity significantly higher than the recipe called for, either the kit's designer screwed up (unlikely), or one of these things happened...

- You ended up with less than the intended volume of wort (boiled away too much).
- You should have topped off with more water after the boil, but didn't, or didn't add enough
- You topped off, but didn't mix it thoroughly before taking the hydrometer sample.
- Measurement error.

It makes sense that I may have not mixed it well enough after I topped it off before taking the reading.
