Able to move keg posts with hand?

I purchased a brand new AEB keg and its my first one, should I be able to turn the posts with my hand? Or should they be a lot tighter? Out of the box it seems I'm able to turn the posts some, I haven't tried to turn too much scared I might mess something up.

No, you should tighten them with a wrench. You don't need to go crazy yanking on the thing, but it needs to be air tight.

Gotcha looks like I need to make a trip to Lowes. Which size socket is required? I know it needs to be a deep one.

I think its easier to use an opened ended wrench on most kegs so you can get at it from the side vs above. It really only is going to tighten less than 1/4 turn past hand tight.

There are a couple of different sizes for posts, so just unscrew them and take them to the store with you.

I have a bunch of the AEB kegs. I usually tighten by hand as much as I can, then tighten very slightly with a wrench, maybe 1/8-1/4 turn. With the AEB kegs I have tightened the posts by hand only and they have still held pressure, so they do not need much torque to seal. With my used kegs, I have to apply a lot more torque to get a good seal. The language describing the keg warranty is a bit scary since they imply that simply removing the posts can void warranty. Just be relatively gentle with them and don't overtighten.

Will do, I'll just tighten lightly than check for leaks with some starsan in a spray bottle

I have a AEB ball lock kegs and Im 90% sure its a 7/8" deep socket...

7/8'' deep socket is what fits on mine. I only snugged the posts up.

Most of the time I can hand tighten my keg posts (cornelius and spartan mix) and they seem to seal just fine. Sometimes if I'm not careful, if I rotate the QD when it's attached it will loosen up the post. In light of that I usually tighten them with a socket, but not necessarily attached to a wrench. Seems to work just fine at around 25-30psi.
