A question on how to dispense from a Corny, minimalist-style

Yo guys, I'm in a pretty nice situation right here.
I'm working at a liquor store, and I can order corny kegs from the local supplier, with only a $30 "deposit". (which I of course don't plan on getting back)
Only problem is that they only come full of beer.
So, in an extremely broke (in a monetary sense) and minimalist setup, what's the absolute minimum that I would need to dispense the beer (probably at a party) to end up with the empty keg?

Well, paying a "deposit" and then keeping the keg isn't really buying the keg. You can buy corny kegs legally, at homebrew stores, online, from soda distributers, etc, but they are empty. They cost between $14 and $25 typically.

Then we can tell you how to go about rigging up a kegging setup.

Ah...absolute minimum you need nothing, open corny keg and pour into recipient laying on the floor.

Or a bit more involved, open keg and syphon beer to pitchers.

Or just get a beverage out fitting w/ a long length of line to syphon the keg dry. you will have to vent the keg by opening the lid to do this.

Or open keg and pour into 5 one gallon pitchers.

Ok, you said you were broke and wanted minimalist ideas...sorry if these are too extreme.

All of the commercial 19L beer kegs I've seen at parties have been sanke-type kegs, which are a PITA, trust me ha ha. I'd just buy some online that have the large opening in the top and separate gas in + beer out hook-ups.

In which case I'd carb my beer naturally with 1/3 cup of priming sugar and pressurize with a 12g CO2 cartridge using this thingy:

Then get a long ass piece of tubing (6'+) with a pinic tap on the end and cool the keg and beer line to the best of your ability. Personally I'd just stick the whole thing in a small garbage can and fill it with ice water if I was bringing it to a party. Otherwise I'd stick the whole thing in the fridge and just coil the beer line up around the keg.

I have a feeling that he meant sanke keg and not corny.

^ +1 .. I have several "Pubkegs" they are converted Corny kegs that have Sanke spears. Reason they do that is most bars will not have a set up to dispense the beer if they were Pin or Push lock.


Also to the OP just buy some online it will be cheaper.

We've really hashed out a ton of these threads that start with "keeping a keg for the deposit" and we're not going there again. It's stealing. Paying a deposit doesn't mean buying the keg. A keg costs the brewery much more than the deposit price. We don't condone illegal activities. If your conscience is ok with stealing, then at least don't discuss it here.
