A Question on Aging

I'm going to brew my high ABV Christmas beer in July. Since I'm going to keg it to carbonate, my question is whether I should keep it in the fermentation tank for 5 months, let it sit in the keg for four months or bottle after carbonation and let it sit in the bottles.

Why not both?

Seriously though, a split batch High ABV bulk aged/bottle conditioned is something that it on my list of things to try.

There seems to be a few different opinions out there. I know a few styles explicitly call for bottle conditioning but I'm always been curious about what the difference between the two could be.

You could also certainly prime it with sugar in the keg and let it carb and condition until then.

Ferment until done, and then wait for it to clear a bit. Then, keg it and condition it at room temperature for a couple of weeks, and then move to a cooler place, or at cellar temperature the entire time until you're reading to put it in the kegerator.

Yooper......^^^^^^^^, on the "clear a bit" part, could you cold crash it, then follow the rest of the guidelines, or would the temp swing be that detrimental for it?

That would work fine -it's just that will a beer that will age for 5 months, it doesn't seem like it needs a cold crash to clear, and it will clear and condition just fine without a cold crash.
