I entered my first homebrew competition in Aurora, CO last week and my Imperial IPA placed 3rd place out of 27 different entries in the IPA category with a score of 36. The feedback I received from the BJCP judges was very helpful and I am excited to tweak this beer for the next batch. I know it is not about the medal and rather about fine tuning my recipe and process, but I'm not gonna lie...it felt really good.
I post this not to brag (because I know how subjective scoring can be), but really to say thank you to everyone on this site who I stole ideas and advice from. I have only been brewing for a little over a year but as soon as I found this site, I knew I was home. I have poured over too many threads to count and learned more on here than any book I have read about brewing.
So cheers, homebrewtalk, on a group win this past weekend.
