So I posted about a beer that delayed fermenting, I was in checking on it and am happy to announce it is fermenting really good. However I noticed the coffee stout that has been in the fermenter for several weeks is now releasing in the airlock about 3 rapid bubbles every 45-60 seconds this beer was dormant for about a week to a week and a half and I was going to keg it. I guess it's a waiting game now.

Has the stout warmed up a bit? It's not just yeast releasing CO2 that can alter the air pressure inside a fermentation vessel.

It shouldn't have heated up any. They are both in the corner of my walk-in closet. Checked it again this morning...every 45 second or so

Have you taken a hydrometer reading. That is the only real way to tell for sure whether it is ready for bottling.
If the reading is stable and near your expected final gravity for a few days, it is ready.

Every few days a weather system moves through our area and with it there is a change in atmospheric pressure. That's all it takes to get some airlock activity. Use your hydrometer as it is a tool for measuring while an airlock is only a vent. How would you tell if your beer was done if your stopper leaked and your airlock never bubbled?

I rarely use a hydrometer, but I did order three different beer kits and got a free refractometer yesterday!

keep in mind that the alcohol will throw off the refractometer reading. You can find a chart online to show you how to adjust for the presence of alcohol.
