Without realizing it...I made my first batch (extract) on an unlucky
day 06/06/06.....and had a foam-over on my carboy.....I wonder
if this is a sign?

I cleaned it up, and an not gonna worry about it for a while.....
my cork/bung was too low and in the beer itself....I sacrificed
a couple litres to allow CO2 room and am hoping for the best.

Cheers.

My brew partner and I were drinking our 6-6-6 ale while brewing a 10 gal. batch tuesday. I noticed a few things going against the grain but when my friend dropped the hose and it hit one of the carboys full of fresh wort it broke. I jumped across the deck and saved 2 gallons before the rest of it drained out the huge hole in the glass. I would trade places with you in a second to lose a little like you did instead of the way ours went. I concider it a small sacrifice to pay.

Sorry to hear about the loss.
Funny thing how wwe both used the word "sacrifice"...
gets me wondering even more about the date.

I took a small hydormeter reading today..and a taste test.
Everything is looking good and hope that by next weekend I'll
be able to rack it.

Cheers.

That sounds like a reall 666 bummer.

Aren't you worried there aren't glass shards in there?

I wouldn't chance it. Throwing out versus loss...it's outta here.

My health is more important than try to save 2 gals of beer that can cause me a serious health issue.

If you decide to share it with anyone be responsible and let them know about the circumstances around this brew before they drink. Let them decide if they want it or not...and if don't hear from you after a few days I will assume your doing the dirt nap.

Later.

One can avoid glass shards by drinking slowly through the teeth.
Two weeks ago, while out with the father-in-law..he bought some corona.
I didn't have an opener, so I placed the top part of the cap on a metal suface and
banged on the top of the cap....to the cap off, and about 1/2 inch of glass. Needless to say..waste not want not....I finished the bottle with the above filtering method. Although this may be a bit risky for filtering 2 gallons :)

A shot of crown royal may help sanitize the the strainer....or at least make passing
a glass shard slighly less painful.

Seriously....how are you gonna filter it? cloth?

Cheers

Well.....it beats cools lite (slightly).
Any idea of the alcohol (by volume) of Coors lite? The in-laws are in the States - and I'm from Canada..so I wasn't used to the watery taste.....maybe 3%...?
I could handle a 3% with some flavour..but could't handle CL for long.

It's higher than 3% for sure.

If I'm not mistaken, it was Coors that pushed for so long in order to be able to post the ABV on the containers to dispell rumors that it was weaker than competing beers.

CL is 4.2 ABV and 9 IBU. But it has Michelob Ultra beat (2.5 IBU, about the same as hard water).

6/6/6 I wasn't brewing, I was breaking my Jacuzzi. Before I started, it was just leaking a bit. I don't think I actually broke the impeller, because when I unscrewed it, it came out in pieces. Just my luck, the spa place has impellers for 1 hp and 1 1/2 hp and I have a 2 hp motor.

No spa for you! Come back Tuesday!

What the hell did you stick in there? :D
