In the summer of 1962 I joined the U.S. Navy in Brooklyn. After a year in boot camp and Electronics school at the Great Lakes training center I was sent to Hawai`i where I remained still today. I'm going to brew an American Imperial Stout in a week or so marking my 52nd anniversary here in the islands. This is what it will look like. Did a similar brew last year and made a few changes. The biggest change is swapping the Maple syrup for Molasses. This is what it looks like now:

Looks tasty. Only thing I noticed which may be off is the amount of ibus. But I didn't go look at the style profile to see if they are inline with style. Congrats on 52 years on the islands!

My dad was an electrical engineer / electronics tech working for the navy a few years prior to your arrival in HI.

He foolishly returned to the mainland after a couple years.

Sorry, nothing to add to your recipe.

Cheers!

Brewed this today. Started w/3.25 gal water for the mash.
3 gal went into the boil pot w/a vigorous boil
1.9 gal went into the fermenter.

OG was to be 1.115 and I hit 1.114.9

I'm happy. If this comes out good it will be entered in a few 2016 contests.
