5.2 Stabilizer. Thoughts?

I wish you could buy just enough for a couple of batches. The jar I got is pretty dang big and it put like 15 bucks or something extra on my grocery bill I think I am going to get some strips for the next batch and see whats up.

+1 on this. I did buy a jar and used it, but then went to using fancy pants excel sheets to adjust my water. Now I have 3/4 of a jar of the stuff. We should just start the black market of passing around used jars of the stuff, so people can try it to see if it works for them.

I got a water quality report from my water source. It does not give values in ppm for things added. It pretty much shows percentages based on the EPA guidelines.

It lists copper, lead, nitrate, chlorine, bacteria & trubidity.

How would I find out the info I need? Should I send away for a water test?

I use the calculator that Palmer provides. He updated it in Feb 2011. The links to the excel file are at the bottom of the page here.

You should be able to get your water profile in terms of PPM. If anything, call and ask.

This is my favorite fancy excel sheet. Great basic water information and addresses 5.2 and how your recipe affects pH. It has a sparge acidification sheet as well.

The guy who created it has some cred too..

Get a Ward lab test or search forum for your town or towns near you. Someone may have posted a report already.
