So I fired up my 32 jet 320kbtu burners tonight. They run well, nothing but blue flame. I had them set to 12 inches below kettle, but the centre flames of the jet burner was still along ways off, I moved it to about 10" below, and now the highest cent flames from the jet burner are just barely touching the kettle. The directions say 12-14" minimum space, but 10"-8" is where the flame is just starting to make contact. Do I want the flame to be just under contacting the kettle, or do want substantial flame contact with the kettle bottom. what kind of spacing are others that are using these things going with? I am using 55 gallon drums and pots.

I would like to know how your spacing worked out. I'm building the stand for my 55's and I'm at the point where I need to place the burners which are 32 tip jet burners.
