Brewed my second all grain batch yesterday. Was using my new kettle for the first time. Did a fat tire clone. This time I preheat the mash tun, kept the 155F for the whole time. Was able to hit my boil volume, post chilled volume was right at 5 gallons and the most important for me I hit OG right on the spot. Was really proud of myself (didn't took much isn't it!) Amazing how the right equipment make the experience more enjoyable....

Congrats, I just did my second all grain over the weekend. I got higher than expected efficiency the first time, and slightly lower this weekend. Both within .004 so no worries, but it must feel great to hit one spot on!

it was my 2nd all grain but my 5th batch total.... This forum is a remarkable source of info, good advice etc... pretty sure I will still be cussing without it.... the only thing is, there's always a new/better gizmo to buy, now I read about those beer gun.....

I hear ya man, absolutely in the same boat. I did 3 extract brews as well before making a tun and the like. My first beer was essentially kit instructions with a little clarification from the LHBS. Since then I have read 6 or 7 books on brewing and though they are great resources and especially handy to have open and out on brew day, nothing beats the specifics and timeliness of advice that can be found on this forum. Like any good hobby there is way too much stuff to spend money on, but at least there is a good amount of DIYers around to show me the cheap way! Cheers bud, hope the batch turns out great. :mug:
