I want to create a portable keg tap system and by looking in this forum I have the following a 70 qt cooler

What I need to know is will a 3 gallon fit or do I have to get the 2.5 gallon kegs

But in general I would like to know which is better for your use and why

Thanks I am a new so forgive me if this has been discussed

The only reason one would be better that the other is for your own volume needs.

As for for will it fit who knows. You need to measure inner H and W of the cooler then add in the connector height and the area needed for whatever your co2 / serving devices will require.

Most sites tell you keg dimensions.

I have a 60 qt. rolling Igloo cooler and it can fit a 2 1/2 gallon ball lock keg or a 3 gallon pin lock keg converted to ball lock. However, the 3 gallon is tight and the lid only closes now because I switched the plastic ball lock disconnects which are at an upward angle to lower profile stainless steel disconnects (shown in the second picture below). The picture of the cooler shows a 3 gallon keg with the old plastic disconnets.

i have never seen those type disconnects. Are they made for something else or specifically for keg post?

do you see any benefits to 3 gallon over 2.5 gallon or visa versa in everyday use besides the portable cooler I don't want to purchase one and then when i get them feel the buyers remorse and think if i would of only thought of this or that.

thanks for the input you all have provided. Trying to get my Christmas wish list set

I thought my 3 gallon keg in a homer bucket with ice was a sweet portable setup. After seeing yours, I now realize I was off.
