I will be doing my first AG batch with NB dead ringer IPA. My questions pertain to the instructions and if anyone could give me some advice who's brewed the AG.

Is there any info that the batch sheet does not tell you that I should know?
Or, do I follow it to a T?

This is what I'm working with:
36 QT SS Bayou
Bayou SQ14
10 Gal mash tun w/ss false bottom
Will be batch sparging for this first attempt

Also, I've read articles where it says "switching to all grain is easy, all you need is a mash tun". But don't you need a an extra pot to heat more water up when you drain the mash tun? Am I confusing myself?

Yeah, once you start draining into the boil kettle you'll need another pot, preferably one with a 3-4 gallon capacity to heat up your sparge water

i drain the tun into my bucket fermenter, which has volume markings. then transfer over to the BK when it's free

I used to do what Grog does also. Heat strike water, add to MT, start heating sparge water, drain MT to bottling bucket/fermenter while sparge water is going and then sparge and boil.

Agree with the folks above. I've been doing the 'drain to another container' thing for the past 3 brews. I can't wait to get another brew kettle. It works, but it is annoying :)

decided to buy a 5 gallon cooler to hold my sparge water while draining my mash tun. I can heat up my sparge water while I mash then transfer to cooler. also gives me flexibility to fly sparge if i want., thank you all for the tips.

This is my favorite IPA and house beer. The first two AG batches I brewed followed the exact recipe. Brewing this again this weekend and plan to add 8Oz Carapils for some more head retention and also will dry hop with 2Oz Centennial instead of one to get a bit more flavor and aroma.

That's good to hear. Adding the 2oz dry hop? Is this your preference or does it need it to resemble THA more closely?

Just tweaking per personal preference. I felt it could use a bit more hop taste / aroma.
