Anyone given this a try? It sounds easy and I'm thinking citra would be a great hop to try this with.

"15-Minute American Ale

5 gallon batch

6 lbs. Light Dry Malt Extract
1 lb. 60 L Crystal Malt
2 oz. Simcoe Pellets (or your favorite American hop) – 15 minutes
1 oz. Simcoe Pellets – 5 minutes
1 oz. Simcoe Pellets – Flameout
Safale US05 Yeast

Steep the crystal malt in a grain bag in the water as it is coming up to a boil. When the temperature reaches 170F, take the bag out. Add the extract before the wort comes to a boil to help avoid a boil over. When the wort begins to boil, add hop additions at times above. Only boil wort for 15 minutes. Chill and pitch yeast.
One note: you will not need as much water as a typical one-hour boil, since you will not be losing as much water to boil off."

Yes, done it several times except used LME and experimented with different specialty malts & hops. I also heated the water to 154 and did a 30 minute mash and then pulled the bag and dropped it into a second pot of 152 water for a "sparge". Did 15 min boil and beer came out very good, cascade and amarillo combination was tasty. Amazing how quick and easy vs/all grain. Its not going to replace all grain brewing for me, but it helps keep the beer pipeline going when I'm short of time. Brewing took about an hour or so, I chilled overnight in a cold water bath out side and pitched in the morning.
I started brewing with all grain from the get go, so this was my first crack at using extract, and have since done short boil brewing with several kinds including pilsner extract (did 30 minute boil).

Thanks! Yeah, I might go the LME route. My last two brews have been all grain. Wanting something simple, quick and tasty at the moment!
