I wanted to purchase a cream ale kit but only wanted to make a 1 gallon batch because I can never seem to make a batch of beer my girlfriend likes. So I figured why not make a cream ale. I looked at some recipes and kits and quite a few only called for light dme. I had some light dme on hand and went ahead and started brewing. I used a couple of calculators on the internet to figure out ibu's and I should be at 20 and I used beersmith 2 to determine og. I had 3 extra ounces of light dme, so I three it in anyways.
Light dme - 19oz
Cluster 7% hops - .35oz
.8 oz Maltodextrin
Wyeast 1056 American ale
Og- 1.060
I only boiled for 15 min. Basic brewing made a pale ale this way, so I figured why not a cream ale brewed the same way. I started at 3:50 and was finished and cleaned up by 5:05. I used the water jug I bought for my brewing water as my primary. I added the Maltodextrin because I made a pale ale this way and it was a little too watery.
Looking for thoughts or constructive criticism, thanks.
