I'm brewing my second IPA in celebration to my newly founded hop garden and have some, what some of you might think are crazy Ideas. her is the Recipe.
4 Gal. Batch
5 pounds 2nd row
2 pounds caramel crystal Malt-45
1 pound wheat
1 pound oats
Mash in And hold Temp @150* for 60 min
Mash out and batch sparge @ 180*
1oz centennial @ 60 min
1 oz pacific Gem @ 60 min
Dry hop 1 oz centennial
Dry hop 1oz Pacific Gem
I also want to use Star anise and was wondering if I could add this to my ferment or if it is best to boil this. Was reading about the addition of vanilla bean to an IPA and was wondering what the best way to do this would be. I was thinking that I could add both the Bean and the anise at the end of the fermentation for a few days. But literally have no experience with this so I need some ideas.
Bottled: west coast IPA, Wisemen Winter Wheat, pomegranate apfelwien
