I have access to a large supply of these buckets and they seem like they would be a great fermenter - they are about 10 gallons and the plastic is VERY thick (like 1/2"). The only thing is that they were used to store chlorine crystals used for water treatment. They smell like chlorine. Is there a suggested way of getting rid of the smell? I am afraid of using them for beer until I can get rid of the smell.

Thanks. I looked at the other thread - it is from March of 09 but I left a reply asking how they worked out.

Heat and UV rays are the two best ways to get the chlorine to break down. From your post in the other thread it sounds like you may have missed the main part of what they did, which was leave it in the sunlight.
