How much grain can it hold and still get a good grain to liquid ratio?

I have done 25 lbs comfortably. I probably could have squeezed in a few extra pounds with a bit more effort.

I can do 13-14 in my 5 gallon. I would guess that you could double that.

I have fit 26 lbs with some effort and still had an acceptable water/ grain ratio. If you are looking to do high gravity 10+ gal batches I would recommend going with something larger, probably rectangular in shape.

I have used 28 at 1:1.I wont do that again.

I would say the most i'll do is 25-26.

The mash caalculator below indicates 28 lb is just under 10 gal. But you have to stir and sparge. Say 25 unless you are a bit foolish and reckless like me.
