Anyone know if it would be ok to transfer a 1 gallon batch to prime in a 5 Liter Mini keg? My concern is headspace. There's a homebrewtalk article that discusses minikegs and 1 gallon batches, but doesn't address this question.

You should be fine as long as your headspace filled with CO2 and you properly purge the keg to start with. It would be no different than a half full keg.

I would be priming these with sugar, like one does a bottle, not force carbonating (which I think you are suggesting).

Yeah I was speaking of force carbing. I am sure it is possible but being that I have only bottle conditioned once I will pass this to those that have more knowledge on the on the subject.
