Hi All,
(post number 1)
I have just done my first homebrew kit and for the first 24 hours my brew was @27c (following coopers real ale instructions of 21 to 27 c)
When i delved deeper everything points to this being too warm, Will i have damaged my brew from this or will the 19c that it has been since make it / be ok? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

FV 1 Coopers real ale
FV 2 Empty
Keg 1 Empty
Keg 2 Empty
120 Bottles Empty

:D

The first 48 hours, during which the yeast go through a growth phase, are absolutely the most important. The fact you caught it after a day may have prevented some fusels from developing, but the yeasts certainly would have been happier down at 19C.

Thing is, it's your first beer... and you're already concerned about this. That's pretty rad. My hunch is you'll be making some great, non-kit beers in no time.

Cheers!

You just learned a valuable lesson about home brewing: damage control :D

A big temperature change like that will stress the yeast, but the result will certainly be better than if you had just let it ride at such a high temperature.

Congrats on your first brew! :mug: Now for that pesky "patience" part.

Cheers gents number 2 is now on coopers stout steady @ 20c

Thanks
Brenty
