Hello Everyone,
This is my first time posting anything on the web. So i figured I'd give you guys a glimpse for my transition from extract to all grain. Going into the build I wanted to make sure I had equipment to begin brewing 5 gal as well as 10 gallon without buying any more equipment. I know this may have not the best way going into this but spending more money in the long run wasn't an option for me. I will first start this post on the Mash Tun (M/T) build and slowly keep you guys updated. Thanks and enjoy!
Cheers!
A lot of brain storming went into this MT. It will also have multi purpose "IF" all goes as planned. Coil will keep mash temps steady and once its cleaned out during the 60 min boil it will serve as a chiller. I tried to keep the cost of this build to a minimal.
List of parts:
15 gal Bayou Kettle (amazon $50 refurb)
False bottom (Amazon $30)
1x 50ft stainless Coil (Amazon $50)
2x Insulation Rolls ($16 Amazon)
2x 3/8 compression fittings
(BarginFittings.com $15)
1x 1/2 in compression Bulkhead (BarginFittings.com $20)
1x 1/2 stainless tube
(BarginFittings.com $10)
1x Aluminum tape
($10 HomeDepot)
1x 2x3 board.
($15 HomeDepot)
First thing that was done was a custom pick up tube made by yours truly. Keep in mind I never tig welded stainless or tig weleded period. So excuse my beads
I will make sure to keep you guys updated for those that are interested.
