Happy Friday all!

I will be in NYC this weekend in the 63rd and Broadway area.

My wife is turning me loose for a few hours while she attends a dance class/performance. Anyone have any good suggestions in this area for a good microbrewery or taproom? Short cab rides are not out of the question. :mug:

Rattle 'n Hum is close by, as is the New York Beer Company. Both in Mid-town West.

If it were me though, I'd go downtown either to Beer Culture (fairly close by cab) or Church Publick on this list. To Church Publick you take the #1 subway at Lincoln Center to Chambers, and walk to Church Street. Good luck getting back, lol.

Heartland Brewery in Times Square area. Mucho dark Mahogany and Tastey Brews. Bar food is good too. NYC pricing is lone detractor, but you'll pay more than you want anywhere on that island. Near 6th and 43rd IIRC.

We went to NYC few months back and I didn't really experience a whole lotta craft beer right in the city. We went to Heartland and I had a few flights, which was good. We also went to Guy American Kitchen cause I heard they had their own beer there, but it was just Heartlands beers with a different name.

I started a similar thread back in September when I visited NY with my wife. We went to Birreria, which is a rooftop patio/restaurant/bar on top of the building with Eataly (Italian food market) on the ground level. Birreria is a partnership between renowned celebrity Italian chefs Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich. They've partnered with Dogfish head to provide the beers, and the menu (both food and beer) is outstanding. Dogfish Head even has a small brewery presence on site where they brew 3 exclusive beers especially for the restaurant. My wife and I both enjoyed it. It's at 23rd and Broadway, right next to the Flatiron building. It's an easy subway ride (I think we took the 'R' line).

These are good recommendations. As is Eataly.

I'd skip Heartland. And definitely skip Guy's:
NYTimes Review

Whole Foods in Columbus Circle has little bar downstairs with a decent tap selection and bottles to go. If you do get time to head downtown, there's a better bottle selection at the Bowery WF. Head around the corner and New Beer Distributors is a good bottle shop too. Top Hops Beer Shop is also nearby and always has good stuff on tap.

Wish I would have seen these posts before I went ^^ Instead I got stuck at Heartland and $14 Heinekens at Bubba gumps :/

I know this is late, I hope you had a good time anyway. The breweries worth going to are in the outer boroughs (Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens). One of my favorite is KelSo brewery in Brooklyn. They produce all the beer for Heartland Brewery and also for their own label. There is also Brooklyn Brewery ( good beer and beer garden to enjoy them). Coney Island Brewery, 10 mins form my house, has some nice brews and hard sodas. The tasting room has some great people working there. Up in The Bronx is the Bronx Brewery. In Queens you have Sixpoint Brewery (I have not been there yet). :mug:
