If you could not drink your homebrew, would you still brew it?

  • Yes, even more.

  • Yes, the same amount.

  • Yes, but less.

  • Are you the devil? La la la la. I can't hear you.

  • No. What's the point?

  • I'd brew n/a.

  • Nader will brew for me.

Given the pifalls of drinking, dietary concerns and health/medical considerations, many of us have resorted to curbing alcohol intake, limiting the types of alcohol consumed, or abstaining from drinking all together.

I have always been a fan of Root Beer, and am still thinking of making a batch or four.

If I couldn't drink beer, I doubt I would brew it, unless I worked for a brewery or something.

No way, except for maybe a special occasion once in awhile.

I enjoy the brewing process, but most of the fun comes from tasting, enjoying and critiquing the finished product. Without that, might as well be making oatmeal.

Kolsch for my SWMBO.
Blue Balls Belgian With for my kids (all over 21)
Nierra Sevada for my friends.

Root Beer for me.

Good Companion Poll olllllo...

that's kind of a tripper.

Wait...drinking has pitfalls?

I think I would continue brewing, though much less. I have a bunch of friends I brew batches for (they supply ingredients and do bottling). I really love the process of AG brewing but I have a feeling it would lose it's appeal after a while if I couldn't enjoy the fruits of the labours.

If I had to stop drinking because I became a raging alcoholic, I'd probably stop brewing. If I had to stop drinking for more innocent reasons I'd still brew for the fun and give it to friends/family but I'd brew less.

Honestly, I'd probably stop brewing if I couldn't drink it.

But then, I'm only slightly obsessed. Ask me again when I'm doing all grain and my beers actually begin to taste good. :D

I enjoy brewing, it's fun. I got into it to kill time, not so much to drink, but the drinking certainly has it's benefits.

I might keep doing it to kill time, or to keep my wife buzzing, or because beers and wines make great gifts. :D

So perhaps it's an I don't know.

Even if we became teetotalers, we'd probably still brew. I like the process, and there are plenty of people who I'd enjoy brewing for.

I wouldn't bother with it if I couldn't drink it, it would just be a chore if I wasn't looking forward to drinking a really good beer that I made myself

I like to brew, but not enough that I'd brew just for fun if I couldn't drink it

I'd stop. I drink most of what I brew and what I don't drink goes to other homebrewers.

I'd go on a quest to brew good beer without the component that caused me the problem.
Interesting point.

I’ve often wondered where there is a recipe for a non-alcoholic beverage that tastes like beer. I know that NA is not truly beer…just an artificial ingredient concoction designed to taste like beer, then carbonated.

I will try one day if I get time.

I plan to ferment it then sit it in the oven for a few hours then cool and carbonate.

the only problem is telling what the alcoholic content is afterwards?

would the gravity and body increase. (I'm guessing so)

Too many people are dependent on me for good beer(well, maybe drinkable beer). I can't let them down.

I enjoy brewing so much that I would not want to stop. If this happens are there any volunteers to drink my beer up so I can make more??? :mug:

I would definately step up and help you out. I'd even make the 2 1/2 hour drive to pick the beer up just so you wouldn't have to haul it. BUT.... if you found yourself headed to Oriental anyway, I'd meet you out at the highway. It's the least I could do.

Wait a minute... Weren't you in Cary, NC not too long ago?
