    Anybody harvesting hops yet?

I'll probably harvest some serebrianka in the next day or two. It doesn't look like much. The magnum is loaded though.

    Fertilizer for hops

Organic early season. Bloodmeal, bonemeal. Then osmocote plus once the plant & soil are active (early June for me). Then some potash after harvest. I was thinking I also added some potash when the flowers started to set, but for some reason it didn't make my notes.

    How high is too high?

I just let them blow in the wind.

    Little help with trellis ideas

Move to the country. Otherwise attach some eyelet bolts at the top and run rope to it.

    Anyone else coming to life?

Yep. Finally. Trimmed up the Magnum and Serebrianka today. Columbia may be showing some life. Still waiting on Vojvodina. Everything is slow this year. Trying not to get impatient.

Is it possible to get Rhizomes for hops like Citra, El Dorado, Mosaic, etc.?

Go look on Great Lakes Hops. You might find some varieties that would work for you. Check out Triple Perle.

    Hops in Planter Boxes

Boxes will always impede hop growth.

Where to plant hops in high heat relative to the sun(Dallas/Ft Worth)

Just a piece of advice on watering. They like water but don't like wet feet. The biggest thing will be timing. If I have heard right a big problem farther south is too early cone formation. They then dry out in the summer heat and never fully mature.

Home grown cascade hops, little flavour, options to fix?

Ripe hops should bounce back quickly when squeezed. They also should be fairly sticky. Drying hops can be as simple or complicated as you want. I just throw them in brown paper bags to maybe a quarter full and shake them once a day. As far as bittering it is easier to use a known AA% and use...

    Late season planting, advice requested.

The height is fine for home growing. You'll get some yield, just less. Your current spacing is adequate for two plants. I'd personally want them the same variety because it is compact. Then when the bines grow past the trellis a few feet and tangle up you'll still know what variety you are...

Yellowing leaves, dead spots and bug excrement?

Is the soil wet? Stick a finger in or buy a moisture meter. Just from the last picture, I'd say hit them with more nitrogen and less water. You may be watering available nitrogen away. What sort of fertilizer (NPK) are you using?

    Help Identifying Nutrient Deficiency

Once a day watering would lead me to guess too much water. Also, are you making sure not to get the leaves wet? To me it looks like they have been wet and not drying off. Or it is humid and could use more air. I'd prune the bottom leaves to promote airflow around the crown. It is something...

    Help Identifying Nutrient Deficiency

Is it showing on new growth or just bottom leaves?

Please help diagnose my current problem(s)...

How does the new growth look? There are two things I can think of to read about. Leaf scorch and leaf hoppers.

    Hops Destroyed by Hail Storm

Heard about it. Snowplows for hail. Keep us posted on how/if they recover. Stored energy will be a problem if you don't get any new growth. If you need a temporary trellis, a shepherd's hook with rope strung will keep them off the ground.

    Trimming the lower sidearms?

Shouldn't it be a bleach solution?

    Trimming the lower sidearms?

Went ahead and pruned the Magnum around the crown. It looked like it possibly had a start of mildew problems. Should have pretty good airflow now. I'll have to watch it, but growth a little higher looks good. That leads to a second question... How do you clean & sanitize pruning shears that...

    Trimming the lower sidearms?

How about on 1st year plants? And then on plant varieties that take 2 years to establish (e.g. magnum)? I'm thinking my 2nd year magnum probably needs cleaned up a bit. Seems like too much around the crown. I'll have to check if it is drying out. The 1st years seem fine, not enough growth...
