Anyone know how to wire this old motor? It's from 1942.

What's this puppy do with some juice on it?

Wouldn't there be a third post for additional windings if there was a start cap? I'm no expert though.

    Small heater

I'll save the snow birding until I'm an old man. For now, I'll enjoy some BBQ!

    Small heater

I think it might be fine. I plugged it in and closed it up for about 30 minutes. It heated itself from 60 to 72.

    Small heater

That might work. Or size a resistor I guess. Maybe I keep it simple and throw a hand warmer oxygen activated pack in for cold nights? Will those last 8hrs?

    Small heater

Any ideas for heating a small plastic enclosure? I have temp controller for my UDS charcoal smoker that will not function below 20 deg f. I found a small enclosure that can house the controller and seal the wires. Now how do I heat it? Maybe the controller itself will put off enough heat?

Cake pan + skateboard wheel + bike brakes = homemade peristaltic pump??

With a positive displacement pump you wouldn't want to restrict the suction or discharge. Throttling pump speed or recycle flow is about the only way to control it.

Might be selling a bunch of gear motors, could work great for grain mills

Fair enough; just called it as I saw it.

    Terra Cotta Smoker

Looks good. How does the "hot plate" control temps without temp feedback? I assume the hot plate knob adjusts an on/off tstat. Or does it somehow adjust output 0-100%?

    Harbor Freight Cut Off Saw

Sounds good. I'll cruise craigslist for a little while. If nothing good pops up, I'll buy this. Thanks! Jeff

    Harbor Freight Cut Off Saw

Currently some angle iron (1/8" x 1 1/2"). Maybe some square tubing in the future. Possibly some conduit (light emt stuff). I don't plan on a lot of cutting. Jeff

    Harbor Freight Cut Off Saw

What do you'all think of this saw: http://www.harborfreight.com/2-hp-14-inch-heavy-duty-cut-off-saw-91938.html I usually look down my nose at harbor fright, but it would be occasional use and wouldn't be in a big hurry each cut. I think it may fit the bill. Thanks, Jeff

Looking for grain mill motor advice

I (as well as others here) use this: http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?item=5-1098&catname=electric Mount it, add a coupler, and you're set. Some (it seems mostly folks that haven't used it) say there isn't enough torque. I've never had problems on my 2 roller 2" monster mill.
