One year hiatus...and I still got it!

I obviously have not looked very deep into this subject I thought that there was more to it than simply have 240v capable power. I'll have to head into the electric brewing section and do some reading. Thanks for the idea

One year hiatus...and I still got it!

That would be my next step if I wasn't on the constant move w/ the military. Living in Germany, and moving to England next I don't want to invest to much into the wiring of the house to handle it. Unless I'm completely wrong here and it's much easier than that :)

One year hiatus...and I still got it!

For various reasons, health/work/etc... I took about a year hiatus from doing something that I love..Brewing beer! I brewed this past weekend for the first time in a year and it went so perfectly that I can not wait to do it again. Brewed a Rye saison (from the recipe section here) using...

Denny Conn's Bourbon Vanilla Imperial Porter

So do you have your starter going two days in advance then chill and decant? I always liked the idea of dropping the starter in at high krausen does that not really matter?

Source for homebrew supplies in Spain?

Well I'm stationed in Germany and I feel your pain. The shipping can be outrageous. If you plan ahead and are willing to wait a while you can opt to do parcel post instead of priority. I know of a few shops here in Germany and one in Belgium but the prices in euro and the selection just...

Drawbacks to a long mash, 8+ hours?

Wow so 13 deg temp drop in 10 1/2 hours. That is pretty awesome. I could see this working well where I can stay up late on a friday mash over night and wake up early and start the mashout/sparge and boil first thing Saturday.

    Grow your own beer garden.

Sorry about that It was new news to me...I don't frequent the forums enough to catch every topic so I must have missed that one a few times...Because when I clicked the link you posted you mentioned how it was getting old (and that was in Feb) Sorry for re-posting!

    Grow your own beer garden.

I thought this was pretty funny...My friends on facebook all know that I'm a home brewer so when they came across this they posted it onto my wall. Seems like a nice enough idea but I can't imagine this thing holding enough ingredients for more than a 1 gallon batch of beer :) Still could be...

Drawbacks to a long mash, 8+ hours?

Perhaps im not insulating enough but I can't see my mas tun holding for 8 hours.

Drawbacks to a long mash, 8+ hours?

Unless you have some sort of auto heating setup I see no way of holding a mash for 8 hours above temps that would cause souring. I would put the brew day off until you have the amount of time needed to do it. Things can and will start growing in your mash tun if you let them sit long enough.

    Need some beer recommendations!

I'm going to the Belgium beer fest this weekend in Brussels, Belgium I'm not terribly familiar with everything on the list and I was hoping that perhaps some of you might be able to help pick out the cream of the crop if you will ;) Here is a list of beers that will be available...

Take a look at this Wit beer plan por favor...

Hey guys I brewed this recipe a few days ago and have it fermenting downstairs at a constant 62F. This recipe I got from my friend has some crazy fermentation plans and I was wondering what benefit this would have? I'm going to be racking to secondary overtop of some sanitized grapefruit peel...
