    Brew Out Front or Out Back?

    I brew outside my garage which is on the side of my house facing west. Mostly for the view but also have hot and cold water in the garage makes for easy clean up

    Sounds like you have you cooling process down so in my opinion your ok brewing outside. I'm in the Pac NW so don't have the humidity you do or the bugs. I just have mosquitoes, flys and moths after dark.

    I prefer to brew outside. So much more relaxing and a pretty goid view. Anything landing in your pot breboil isnt an issue. Ive never had much issue post boil either.

    How many batches of beer have you made until it's drinkable and tasty?

    Can't help you with lager as I've never brewed one. Are you using recipe kits? If so I recommend keeping using them follow every step until you have your process down before designing your own recipes. I used kits for the first year before I ventured in my own recipes. I've never dumped a batch...

    How much time to use gelatin for fining with no cold crash?

    From my understanding gelatin won't do any good until after cold crashing. There has to be chill haze before it can be cleared. I could be wrong but When I use gelatin it's always after cold crashing.

    Don't Do That.

    Don't start brewing immediately after returning from getting a tooth pulled while still numb. About 2 hrs later I was really regretting the idea. Broken Tooth Ale turned out pretty decent though.

    I get home from work at 7:00 am and try to have grains milled water measured the day before. I start heating the strike water in the garage before I go into the house, usually start mash by 8:00 always nice to finish before noon. Then get it cleaned up before1:00.     So who's brewing this weekend?

    What I like about having a mill, buying grain in bulk and stocking up on hops is I don't have to plan a brew. I can spontaneously brew when I have the time. So much more enjoyable.

    Eight of us stayed at a B&B winery for my wife's birthday in the Willamette valley. First for all of us. It was good times.

    Another yeast experiment.

    I brewed a Blue Moon clone and split the batch in 1/2 using US-04 and Pacman in each half. 11gallons 10lb 2row 10lb white wheat 2 lb flaked oats 1 lb C-10 1 lb carapils .5 lb rice hulls 2 oz hallertau 60 2oz hallertau 10 1.5 oz dried orange peel 5 .25 oz coriander 5 Mashed at 152*...

    I can do 6 at a time but have only had it up to 4. That's plenty enough for me.

    My house is always between 68-72 year round. My Fermentors stay in the corner in the dining room.

    I'm in the NW and just use a tub with frozen water bottles swapped out every couple days. For the hot days I'll drape a tshirt over the Fermentor and into the water.
