    Best NEIPA hop combos

Been testing out how to increase hop character using hot side hops. after reading scott janish and the talk around what hot side can do to increase the quality of ipa's, i found that idaho 7 was hisd favourite (he obviously has a list of hops that work really well). Here in NZ Iadho 7 is a...

Can you Brew It recipe for Stone Arrogant Bastard

It's definitely an interesting one. we all know that independent breweries will tweak and make minor changes to their recipes over time and batch by batch, sometimes because of harvest quality, AA's etc. I guess the question is, are Stone too big to play with their recipes batch by batch? I...

what style would you call this??

so its 1.5% roast barley I'm unsure what the boil down will add to the beer, but assumed 10 points additional (if no then it'll give me an idea for next time). Sadly as well WY1469 isn't available in NZ (I'm gutted, cos this is such an awesome yeast). So I went with WLP023 burton. So I guess...

what style would you call this??

thats quite the run down - really appreciate the time youtook to write and post on this. It definitely an interesting topic, and may taste like something compeltely different to what the style hybrds im looking at intend, but for all intensive purposes i feel as though its true hybrid between an...

what style would you call this??

should be plenty of yeast left over to do more than just this beer, so a roasty stout sounds like a good plan. ive used this yeast on a neipa before, and it comes out really really well.

what style would you call this??

Basically, I want to make a Wee Heavy. But, I will have a perfect yeast cake of WY1469 West Yorkshire, from a Best bitter, that I'd love to use (alternatively I can use this yeast for an NEIPA which works really well). The recipe is super simple. 93% Maris Otter 5% Munich or Vienna (not sure...

Motueka pairing in a pale ale other than cascade

Living in NZ. Motueka is a hop thats is readily and easily available. Funnily enough I've never experimented with it anywehre near enough. But there are numerous breweries here, which use it as a hop in their hazy IPA's. I'm not sure if its for backup flavour or as the main flavour compound, but...

Motueka pairing in a pale ale other than cascade

I use it in moderation on this type of beer, is a back up (i.e. 1/4oz) rather than a standing component. my whirlpool and dryhop is: 50g mandarina 30g motueka 10g mosaic

    Best NEIPA hop combos

Tell you what, I'm just starting to really experiment with hop combo's in this style. My go to has always been Nelson galaxy, mosaic and citra (simcoe in the whirlpool if i want something different). But there are a couple of breweries here in NZ that are doing absolutely banging Hazies. Some...

    Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Recipe

I kegged this yesterday. an exact replica, based on the information SN provided. this was a beer I drank alot of while after longwalks in the Yosemite's when I was in the Us for 5-6weeks. We'll see what it comes out like, but it looks like a solid enough recipe. Happy to post up my results.

Can you Brew It recipe for Stone Arrogant Bastard

given the water here is really plain, not alot of treatment is actually required. 3:1 is what I do on most beers like this. we have no chlorine, and no other treatments, so filtering isn't required. i add 1/2 tsp of lactic acid to the aprge water normally.

Can you Brew It recipe for Stone Arrogant Bastard

You'll all be pleased to know this picked up a bronze at the NHC here in NZ. Comments to the contrary of good beer were some minor oxidation and needs fresher hops. It's a winner. slightly modified from the final recipe from redskinnfan, but much the same overall.
