    Saflager S-23 at Ale Temperatures

I know, I know, I'm answering this like 4 years too late but I stumbled upon this thread doing some googling... From my experience and from the comments I got from my supplier, S23 is an awesome yeast to use when brewing lager style beers when you don't have the gear to keep the temp down. You...

Lazy/busy brewing. can it ruin kit when brewed too long?

So I've been busy a lot during the holydays, I've been lazy a lot on my free time and I have this nebiollo that spent a whole month in the primary bucket and another month in the carboy. I just added the stabilizers and clearing agents today... very few bubbles showed up while stirring like mad...

    barleywine extract

I listened to you and waited a month before bottling half the batch and kegged the rest. I took a sample glass, the oak&whiskey is there, it's pretty close to what I was expecting. I took my sample after mixing the bottling sugar so it was kinda hard to tell cause I could taste the dextrose on...

    barleywine extract

I bought osk cubes from my hombrew supplies store. it doesn't say anything other than "oak cubes" on the package but I can say they look pretty dark so I guess they're toasted somewhere between medium and a lot. 2 weeks should be enough I guess?

    barleywine extract

I'll go with the cake then. The taste will change but it'll still be a barleywine and I think it's going to be awesome. I'll also add an ounce or two of oak cubes I guess.

    barleywine extract

At this point, I don't really care to know what % it'll end up with, I just want to make sure that it will ferment properly without underpitching. I think a single pack of nottingham is not a lot and want to know if it would be a bad idea to pour my mash on top of an old cake. I've seen some...

I have a gold liquid malt extracts with just a bit of german select hops + 600ml of maple syrup that's been fermenting for almost 3 weeks now. I'll keg it on tuesday, let it cool at least 2 days and drop some gelatin in. (I watched a few videos and the most popular way seems to be the one...

No space to crash unfortunately. I thought of having a 2nd fridge but I don't have enough room for that... My kegerator is a tiny fridge and I can fit 2 cornys... I'm actualy in the process of gathering the cashdown required to buy a house, then I'll have room for a fridge to control...
