    Dry hopping in primary?

Thanks for the tips. I don't have the equipment to cold crash but with the weather at this point I could use my garage! Like the muslin over the cane tip, will give that a try.

    Dry hopping in primary?

I made an extract batch of Northern Brewer black IPA last week. OG was 1.072. I have not transferred to a secondary for quite some time, however I have not dry hopped in the primary yet. The recipe indicates to dry hop for five days. My main question I have is how long should I wait until I dry...

To secondary, or not to secondary

I am going to jump in on this as I was about to post a similar question anyway. I will be making NB Black IPA this weekend and have been debating in my head whether or not to use a secondary. I actually have not transfered to a secondary for quite some time, but this will be the first IPA that I...

    Didn't hit FG...why?

tellish33, I would like to give this recipe a try. Would you mind giving me the amount of hops and addition schedule? When is the cocoa and brown sugar added? Any other instructions I need to know? Thanks for your help. Dave

NB Petite Saison Kit and Green Flash Summer Saison

I did make the Petite Saison and it turned out quite well! I added 1lb of honey to the receipe to kick it up a little bit. Sorry but I have never had Green Flash to compare it to. If I see it somewhere I will be sure to pick it up to I can compare.

Need to take less time on bottling day!

I bottled yesterday. From time I turned on the pot with the proming sugar water on the stove until I capped my last bottle was right about two hours. Looks like still slow compared to some of you but it was a big improvement for me. Making use of the time the priming sugar is boiling/cooling to...

Need to take less time on bottling day!

Revvy - I have read your sticky and I do use the method of attaching the wand direct to the bucket spout with the bucket elevated so I can sit comfortably. Let me go over it again and as it says, I need to "dial in my process" to get it streamlined. Thanks.

Need to take less time on bottling day!

Yeah when I sanitize I use the Vinator so that part doesn't take me very long. I know the bottles are clean so I think I will skip the additional bottling day rinsing and go right to sanitizing. Now, I need to figure out some other time savers! Thanks.

Need to take less time on bottling day!

To begin with here, I am embarrassed to say how long my bottling day takes. I do think I have identified something that could save me some time. As I drink my home brew, I soak the bottles at least 24 hours in oxy clean and water, scrub them with brush and rinse with jet washer and put on bottle...

    Strange affect from draft beer?

You didn't piss off the waitress did you? I don't think so, it is usually a guy! Hopefully he isn't trying to "Rufi" me haha! I have had draft beer at other places that didn't bother me. And I have had it bother me at other places too. Man I got really sick in New Orleans one time...

    Strange affect from draft beer?

I don't think it is the volume of the 12 oz vs a 16 oz thing because even at three 16 oz drafts that would only equate to one more bottle of beer. Something must be going on in their lines or kegs at this place that is bothering me. I think I am just going to stick to bottles when I go there...

    Strange affect from draft beer?

Not sure what is causing this, but every time I drink draft beer at a certain local bar, it seems to really hit me hard! Last night I had three beers and I felt like I had six! My head is still throbbing this morning. I can be at home and drink the same KIND and amount of beer from a bottle and...

    Air bubbles in siphon tube

Bottled a batch yesterday, using a clamp on the tube where it connects to the can, could not do anything to stop a steady stream of tiny air bubbles ugh! I hope I did not f&#@ up my beer because my sample tasted dead on what I was looking for. I guess I will know in a few weeks. In the...

    Dry Hopping in primary

OK some nice looking beer there unionrdr and brulosopher, and I am thirsty! Thanks for all the feedback. I am just going to be careful to keep the siphon high enough to keep it away from the bottom sludge. Maybe when the level starts getting lower I will carefully tilt the fermenter to get the...

    Dry Hopping in primary

Planning to bottle tomorrow. Does anyone use any method of filtering when transfering from the primary to the bottling bucket?

    Dry Hopping in primary

Couldn't decide between 1 oz and 2 oz so went with 1.5 oz haha! Gonna let that go for a week and then bottle. Have ready to drink for the opening of trout season!

    Dry Hopping in primary

Uh oh, Xpertskir brought up something else he has me interested in trying - cold crashing. Never have done before but sounds like a good idea. I don't have equipment to do this, but I guess I could put the fermenter outside or in the garage for a day so long as the weather gives me cold enough...

    Dry Hopping in primary

OK - plan to dry hop on Sunday using Revvy's three step instructions. So, any guidelines for how much to use? I am making a pale ale that I so far have used 1 oz of Centennial and 2 oz of Citra in the boil. I am planning to dry hop with another 1 oz of Citra. Any thoughts?
