Awesome, that's exactly what I'm looking for, gonna brew this up tomorrow. I have been reading that the rye can get "sticky", I've been told to add about 2% rice hulls to your grain bill to prevent any "sticking". Anyone notice that at all?

I'm assuming this is for a 5 gallon yield? I've been looking into the rye grain lately and trying to find ways to incorporate into my preferences of brewing, I like hoppy beers, and this pale ale bill seems really good. Does the rye give off a heavy amber color in this particular recipe?

Well after bottling and conditioning, this is a bunk batch. It taste like cold burnt coffee, not exactly enjoyable and blacker than the blackest black. Kept my notes and definitely not making the same mistakes. Thanks for the input. On to the next batch, an IIPA!

Well we bottled it up the other day and gave it another taste and....drum roll..... It taste like coffee!?!? Totally not expecting this. There's no hop flavor at all, however the yeast did give it an amazing aroma. I don't think the yeast was enough though, the OG was 1.040 and we ended at...

So a buddy and I have made the jump to all grain brewing (hooray for us!). The first was a good ol' fashioned pale ale and we decided to do a double brew in a one day, one was a Strawberry Blonde Ale and the second was a Dunkelweizen that a had a few changes in the grain bill that I don't think...

Just finished up building my mash tun, this on my to do list

Well to throw this train back on the tracks, I got my mash tub built up. I drilled out my cooler, built a manifold out of PVC pipping and attached a ball valve on the other side of it. I filled the space up with silicon and seems to hold a seal. All Grain here I come!

I didn't even know this Vanguard existed! That's a lot closer than MoreBeer in Riverside. I'll have to check that out.

I couldn't find any washers or gaskets to go over the 3/4" PVC tubing I bought so I plan to use a toxic-free caulking to seal up my cooler once I get the pipes in, I should've bought one with a spigot already in place.

Also, what's a good size diameter to use? I bought 3/4" piping but someone told me not to use anything smaller than 1", what are you guys using?

I was aiming for 1.013 and ended on 1.010 so I swapped it out to secondary, gonna let it sit for a week before I bottle it.

I've been looking into this, I'm new to the home brewing circle but this has quickly become a wildfire passion! I've got a couple extract brews down and looking to broaden my horizons. I went out and bought a 48qt rectangular cooler but it doesn't have a pour spout, I'll be needing to drill it...

Now that I've gotten the temp to rise up, should I let it ferment longer? It's been two weeks already, I planned to rack to secondary today but I was thinking of letting it sit longer.

I didn't even realize it till now but I did have one box stacked on top of another one while the rest were on directly on the floor. I think this may answer my problem. And yes I poured sugar into bucket then racked onto it.

I mixed my primer into my bottling bucket with the whole batch so it should've been pretty evenly distributed. I keep all the bottles in old cardboard cases in the garage, they weren't next to anything that could've given off temperature variances.

Oh wow, that sounds promising! Did you notice a spike in your water bill from the drip system?

Both are very intriguing, I'll have to look into both of these to find what would be or efficient for me so I don't have a lot of space where I ferment. Thanks to both of you.
