    Uptown Market

I second the motion! Went in on Saturday with LivingSocial special, nice little store, lots of beer selection, some inexpensive Homebrew supplies, friendly. I'll be back.

    Filling CO2 tanks

Where to get a beer gas mix (nitro) tank filled in Portland, Or., other than Air-gas. A good example of how a state or local forum might be quite useful, for specific names of places.

    Filling CO2 tanks

How about Beer Gas? I think Fire extinguisher shops only have co2, not nitro. But not sure if about welding shops. Has anyone had nitro (beer gas)tanks filled other than, say Air-Gas?

Where around Portland can I get an authentic Altbier?

I don't know of any microbreweries or breweries off hand that might have one on tap. Besides they all tend to put their own spin on classic styles. But Belmont Station has 1000 bottled beers, and John's Market in Multnomah Village also has huge variety.

    Brew night in Montana.

No, I guess I'm one of the older Billings crew. I've been in Oregon for almost 19 years. Was back in town in August for my 30-year BSHS reunion. I try to get back one week a summer, lots of friends still there.

Nice set-up. Billings boy here, out in Oregon now. Not sure I miss all that snow, although I do miss good ol Montana. Happy Brewing.

    10 Gallon Mash Tun Capacity?

We brewed a 10 gal Oatmeal Stout with 27 pounds of grain, worked fine. Go to rackers.org. Somewhere on there is a calculator "can I mash it". Pretty tight but it worked

    Transferring wort to fermenter

We always go from kettle to fermenter thru ball valve. Also from 24" (height of burner) to the fermenter, adds a little aeration needed for yeast. Not that you shouldn't still aerate more.
