Picture of my fermenter @ 3 weeks. Can I bottle?

Just like the title asked. The gravity has remained the same for the last 3 days. My only concern is I still have a good amount of stuff (yeast I hope, right?) floating on top. Should I wait a few more days for it to fall, or just avoid the floaties when I rack to my bottling bucket?

How fast can bottles carb up?

I bottled my witbier extract kit last thursday and primed 52 bottles with 5 oz of priming sugar. Tonight will be exactly one week of the bottles conditioning at temps around 65. I was going to wait 2 weeks to try one, but this being my first brew ever, im starting to get antsy. If I chill one...

2 Quick Questions regarding NB Smashing Pumpkin Ale

Alrighty I guess I'll just leave it alone then.... my boil was 2.5 gallons, and to get to 5 I had to add maybe 2-3/4. So all the measurements are fine. Hopefully it just wasn't mixed well like you said. I rocked the bucket it pretty good prior to measuring it, but perhaps not good enough.

2 Quick Questions regarding NB Smashing Pumpkin Ale

OK I'm all done with my second brew-day. Smooth, clean process. The kit says OG should be 1.054 I came in around 1.059-1.060ish... Could this be from the addition of adding 1 tsp. vanilla extract? And all this means to me is most likely a higher alcohol content, yes? It's odd, my first brew...

2 Quick Questions regarding NB Smashing Pumpkin Ale

Howdy all, my Smashing Pumpkin Ale extract kit is boiling as we speak. I just have two quick questions in regards to flavoring. 1. The kit came with a spice mix. (I assume its cinnamon nutmeg etc...) The instructions say to add it at THE END of the boil. How would I benefit if I added it...

Is my Wyeast packet going to EXPLODE???

I activated my Wyeast packet last night because the yeast pack for my first brew barely swelled after 5 hours. This one reacted quite well, maybe TOO well. It's inflated to the max, and I'm still hours away from pitching. (still gotta run some errands) My question is, can these packs...

When can I expect my facial hair to fill in

24 years old here and still cannot grow a beard. Sure, the number of hairs is increasing, but i'm starting to think that i'll never be able to grow a beard : / Hense the reason i ALWAYS get proofed when buying alcohol. Hmm good thing i'm homebrewing now...

    Opening primary fermenter

I'm sorry if this has been covered a lot... Its been 2 days since I pitched my yeast. I've seen a lot of action in my air lock since. I've been tempted to open the bucket up and check out what it looks like and maybe take a hydro measure. My question is what am i risking every time i open...

    Filtered Water

Hmmm should i be afraid? First brew is in my primary as we speak. I used tap water, 2.5 gallons of which were not boiled. According to my county's website, our water contains a "small" amount of chlorine. My tap water tastes great, which is why i used it instead of bottled water. If i can't...

    Successful day of "firsts" yesterday

Well gang, yesterday I ran my first 10k AND brewed my first wort! Both went smooth and successful. The Witbier brew was incident free, and I feel that all of my equipment was sanitized well. The only thing I think I may have screwed up was the reading of OG. But as long as the beer tastes...

New to the forum, new to brewing. Two questions reguarding brew day.

Hello all. I finally got a brew kit (Northern Brewer Basic) and plan on starting my first brew tomorrow. I've been reading up for the last week so I feel pretty prepared for tomorrow. I have a few questions however. I plan on sanitizing my fermenting equipment with the provided star san...
