    ESB FG seems too low

I did my first all grain and the OG was a 1.040. after primary and secondary the FG is 1.002. target was about a 1.014 i think. Is that from a bacteria or wild strain of yeast? 10.5 lbs of grains and the WPL002 yeast. That was in the started for about 24 hours prior. An help would be nice

    starter looks funky.

So I did my starter like normal. About 3oz of dme. Boiled it, cooled it, pitched a wyeast English ale yeast. On the stir plate it looks like it is curtled. When I stop the spin all the clumps fall down and seperate really quick. I've never had a starter do that before. Did I do something wrong?

Yea i just made mine. 10g rubbermaid cooler with the 12" bottom. Fits nice. You can buy a bulk head and valve (i imagine northern brewer has them) What i did was just buy a SS fender and silacone oring and took it all to lowes and just pieced it all together. i havent used it yet but it looks...

    Oxygen Setup

yea it'll work, prob not the best. Thats a reg for a big supply tank similar to the ones we use on the ambulance, we get our supply tanks from places like airgas. But medical O2 comes in an aluminum tank and has to be filtered. Welding gas doesn't. That being said Thats a pretty big tank...

    Homemade Mash Paddle Pics

If your having trouble finding wood consider looking at cargo pallets. It may sound wierd but most of them are good hard wood, occasionally exotics. I took wood shop for 4 years back in high school and the first few days were usually pulling nails.

    MLT Tube Question

cool thanks. I bought some hose clamps with it but wasn't sure if i wanted to put them on. harder to clean. And the little bit that seeps through, i figure, wouldn't really make much of a difference. Am I off here? Am I just being lazy?

    MLT Tube Question

So between my sisters giftcard to AHS and SWMBO's dads giftcard to Lowes i finally made my MLT today. I got the braided nylon tubing for the inside piece going to the false bottom. Any issues with this? Especially cause it will be under heat for a decent period of time.

EdWort's Apfelwein bump to 3lbs sugar

I've got one in the carboy now that i used 4lbs with. OG was 1.078 and after 2 weeks im a 0.997. I used the cote de blanc yeast though (as recomended by the guy at my LBS) OG of the apple juice before the sugar was 1.046

    OG and SG question

I've done a few beer batched but tomorrow is going to be my first Cider. I'd like something a little sweeter. The guy at the LHBS suggested I use red star cote des blancs so i picked up a pack of that. That yeast says it stops working around 12-14% I was wondering if i added a lot of sugar to...

    My Blichmann HERMS is DONE!

looks nice..... forgive me if i sound dumb. Why not just do single tier? I mean isn't the point of using triple tier so you don't have to spend the money on pumps? You spent all that time to make a nice set up, for a few extra bucks you could have thrown in some pumps and made it easier to brew...
