5 years into this great hobby and I feel like giving up

its probably because every time you go to sf brewcraft, you look for all the great hops like amarillo and cascade and they dont have any, so you end up with just EKG

Help/Thoughs on Making a Stout w/ a Wine Yeast Slurry

since ten80 just covered the yeast portion, i have a few suggestions you may have already thought about. One, you could just add the port to the secondary of your favorite stout recipe. a second thought I had was that you could cook down a bottle of the port and add the syrup to the secondary...

    High Gravity Stout Questions

I would back off on the 15% abv. Maybe go for something a little easier to achieve, like 8 or 9%. It's still tricky to get a beer to that level, but definitely much, much easier that 15%. It can be done, for sure, but there are plenty of great homebrewers with a lot of experience who couldn't...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Popped open my first EdWorts Apfelwein earlier tonight and it was delicious. Popped open a bunch more because it's Christmas Eve. Needless to say, I've been in and out of the bathroom. It says as a disclaimer that the morning will have me saying "EdWort, you F@#&er," but tonight, in the name of...

    Divine Intervention

Has anyone ever seen Boondock Saints? There's that one part in the movie where the two brothers wake up at the same time gasping for air. Well the same thing just happened to me but instead of realizing that I need to go kill a bunch of people, I realized I needed to go check the porter I brewed...

    The Brewshed Begins

you should make your brew shed really nice. like put a bunch of brewing things in it and stuff. does anyone know how to make a fermented beer/wine or spirit?

    Drank the airlock water...

not if you drink airlock water. It's the key to immortality and infinite justice.

    Stupid siphoning question

I agree with Chad. You can keep trying to get it going and hopefully it will work out. The auto-siphon though... way of the future.

  17. WillyB

    Two Thanksgiving Beers

great labels! where did you get the paper to print the labels on? Is there a website or store where you can find blank labels for cheap?

    Better Bottle Scratch?

Well, I immediately looked it up and found out that I wasn't supposed to use a carboy brush. SO, then that just leaves the second part of my question. Can I use it for another fermentation or do I toss it and chalk it up to a learning experience?
