    Pumpkin ale mash temp fiasco

    So apparently 60 oz of pumpkin and a pound of rice hulls can really drag down your mash temp I was shooting for 152 but ended up at 143. After about 15 minutes I was able to add in boiling water and get it north of 150. plan on mashing for 90... think I salvaged it?

    Have any luck with Chinook as a FWH?

    Thinking about making a new IPA recipe but replacing the 60 min Chinook with the same amount as a FWH. Has anyone tried this with good results? Shooting for a piney/resiny bitterness but if using Chinook as a FWH will smooth it out some I'm all for it.
