    Pumpkin Cider from Aldi's

Hey guys, I just had a great pumpkin cider from Aldi's. It is NA and comes in a flip top bottle (looks great for reuse). Anyway, does anyone have a sparkling NA pumpkin cider recipe? I have a press we use to make apple cider. I figured I'd roast some fresh pumpkin, and press it out...

    partial bottle

Back on NYE, I made the King's Nutz Maple nut brown. After a month in primary, I'm ready for it to move on. I'm planning on bottling a 12 pack to age. So far, I've only kegged. I have an idea how to bottle, but I have no idea how much priming sugar I should use. I've kegged in the past...

Grain Mill for Kitchen Aid Mixer

Has anyone used a meat grinder as a grain mill for a kitchen aid mixer? Amazon shows a grain mill also. It looks to be a corona style and has some really bad reviews. Granted, these people were grounding for flour, which would be significantly finer than for brewing.

    Pumpkin ale fail

Last night I brewed up some pumpkin ale. 7lbs of DME eventually overwhelmed my pot and went all over my stove. Besides the obvious sticky mess will this cause any other problems? I noticed my OG was a little lower than I expected (1.040 rather than 1.069). But, it tasted great, and...

    High End Digital Refractometer

I'm looking for a source for some high end digital refractometers. I'll need about 4 (shipping to different locations.) The company I used (kohler) no longer carries the refractometer that we were using. My only regret is that these won't be used for beer/wine making. They will be used in a...

    Dago Red

I've had a request to come up with some dago red. I checked on Jack Keller's site and he has a 5 gallon batch. Does anyone have a 1 gallon batch (or suggestions to reduce his recipe)? I think coming up with 70 lbs of grapes is going to be a little cost prohibitive.

What gets Steeped and what gets mashed?

I'm on the corner of extract and PM. I've read some of the recipes and tried to search for answers, but I seem to get more confused. What gets steeped and what gets mashed? It seems like there are grains that are steeped (for flavor/color) and grains that are mashed (for starches). The...

    Wet yeast

Tomorrow I'm getting my first batch of wet yeast. I'm planning on using it for my Pumpkin Ale...which I wasn't going to brew for a few more weeks. Since I haven't used wet yeast yet, any words of wisdom on how to keep it until i'm ready?

    Homebrew for BMC drinkers

We are going to a party for Labor day. Most of my family who will be there are BMC Light drinkers. I had an american amber on tap, and they can't/won't drink it because it is too dark. Does anyone have any recommendations of a kit to try that the BMC drinkers will like? I saw an Aussie Light...

    Kegged Cream Soda

I finally got my keezer set up and have cream soda on tap. (the beer wasn't quite ready yet). It seems like it's taken a long time to carb. The temp is about 37*, 4 gallons of water/soda mix. The gas has been on for about 4 days at 20psi. I thought it would have carbed much faster, but I'm...

    manifold and regulator

Go big or go home right? We are not only brewing our first batch, but building a keezer at the same time. Our intention is to have 5 kegs at once (maybe a year from now) with 3 beer, 1 wine and 1 soda. While our first brew is fermenting, we would like to start the cream soda/root beer as...

    Hello from Pittsburgh!

We discovered homebrew when visiting a long time friend in Florida. After we returned to Pittsburgh, we got a kit and started brewing American Amber. We also have a keezer project going, which has been significantly helped along through all the DIY threads. This forum has been a great...
