Incorrect use of Grains of Paradise?

I basically use a paint strainer to keep hop material out of my plate chiller. I accidentally added the ground grains of paradise into the hop bag. I wanted the spice to stay with the wort to theoretically keep adding flavor during primary fermentation.

Incorrect use of Grains of Paradise?

Yes, they came out of the boil with the hop bag before I put the wort through the plate chiller.

Incorrect use of Grains of Paradise?

I just finished a saison in which I wanted to add some grains of paradise. I've never used this spice before and I'm afraid I may not get the effect I want because I may have added them incorrectly. Beersmith advised that I add them with 5 mins left in the boil, so I cracked them roughly using a...

    Braggot/Farmhouse ale recipe for review

Thanks for the suggestion! I may change those hop additions, the more I think about it. I'm thinking about using WLP568 Belgian saison yeast blend. I think I'd like to get both the phenolics and esters in there.

    Braggot/Farmhouse ale recipe for review

For some reason the buckwheat honey wasn't added. My recipe has 2 lbs at this point. Should I add it to the boil like LME, or should I treat it differently?

    Braggot/Farmhouse ale recipe for review

My intention for this ale is to create a complex, grainy, dry beer with the added touch of some highlights from Buckwheat honey. The hops selection sounds kind of strange , but I liked the "earthy, oak" description of the Pacific Gem, and I thought the citrus notes of the Pacific Jade would add...

    Transporting yeast from a microbrewery

I am going to receive about 200ml of yeast and wort slurry(75%/25%) from a local microbrewery to use in my homebrew 2 days later. I was thinking of giving them a sanitized graduated canning jar, ice packs, and a cooler for transporting the yeast to my house and then I would keep it refrigerated...

Super High Gravity Rye IIPA recipe critique

I believe that the extra IBUs are coming from the initially very weak wort. Also, thanks for the suggestion (everyone) of using more base malt for conversion. I totally missed that.

Super High Gravity Rye IIPA recipe critique

So I'm trying to make some super hoppy rocket fuel. Tell me what you think about the recipe and such. I'm trying to push the 13% mark and really extract some alpha acids by adding my extract late. Also, will a 2L stir-plate starter of WLP001 get me to 13%? I'm trying to avoid using their...

Interesting Irish Red Recipe... What do you think?

I would appreciate some feedback on a strange Irish Red recipe that will have a westcoast hop profile and different grain bill. % Weight Weight (lbs) Grain Gravity Points Color 73.5 % 6.60 Light Malt Extract Syrup 44.9...
