    My Weldless Build Using Strut

Yes, thanks! As soon as I posted my response I thought the exact same thing. Simple solution that was hard to see because of all the overthinking I was doing.

    My Weldless Build Using Strut

I've seen that mounting scheme on this thread, but the issue with the edelmetall is that it has three mounting holes/legs (instead of four) in a triangle shape so if I were to put the burner in with one hole square to the strut, the other two now face at a roughly 45 degree angle to the other...

    My Weldless Build Using Strut

Anyone have any idea how I would go about mounting an edelmetall burner from Norther Brewer? Just bolting together my single tier strut stand but haven't thought through the burner mounting. I'd like to keep the windshield in tact.

    My Weldless Build Using Strut

Rynolee, lemme know how the build goes for you. I'm about to embark on the same style stand, I've already got the struts/hardware just need to tighten up the plans and do the cuts. I picked up two 89qt kettles (MT/HLT) that are 18.75" dia and already had a morebeer 26gal BK that is ~20" so I...

    Making a cold room.

Hey, I live in a tiny apartment in Brooklyn and have a small unused bathroom that I have been fermenting in. During the winter I would keep the window open and use a fermwrap heater with a ranco temp controller to control temps. I want to keep the temperatures low in a similar way in the...

How long should a lager sit in primary?

Before you transfer it to another fermentor you might want to raise the temp to do a "diacetyl rest" if there is still activity in the airlock. If possible, bump it up a degree a day if you're using a temp controller or just move it to a warmer area and rouse the yeast a bit. You're not...

Best use of 3oz of nugget?

I think that would be an interesting experiment to use all nugget, that way you can get a sense of the bittering presence as well as aroma aspects of this hop. It seems to be interchangeable with Chinook, Galena, Columbus and Northern Brewer. Let us know how it goes!

Good dry yeast for Bohemian Pilsner?

You can use Saflager S-23 for a Bo Pilsener. At least that's what it says in Brewing Classic Styles. 21g of rehydrated yeast.

    Maris Otter tastes like diacetyl?

I guess what I also find weird about that CYBI episode is that no one addressed the Maris Otter diacetyl statement after the interview played. I guess it technically didn't have to do with the beer they were trying to clone, so whatever.

    Maris Otter tastes like diacetyl?

Yeah, that's what I have always thought but it was weird to hear a pro brewer saying this stuff. He seemed to know what he was talking about and I think he must because he's an American head brewer in a London brewery. I wish I could find a transcript of his interview. And just for the...

    Maris Otter tastes like diacetyl?

So I was listening to the most recent Can You Brew It podcast for Meantime English IPA and the brewer (can't remember his name at the moment) said something really interesting. He mentioned that they had an all 100% Maris Otter beer and he had to eventually back it down from 100% because he...
