My beer line lengths, check please.

Wow, I didn't know this about the difference between homebrew lines and commercial. I cut mine based on the commercial equation and my beers come out with so much head I have to wait and pour 2-3 times for each pint. Time to order 10' lines!

off flavor - medicinal/band-aid - i know chlorine BUT help me solve the puzzle

A know its been a while since I posted on here. But a big change I made that solved the Band-aid problem was I started Kegging! I haven't had one beer turn out with bandaid flavor since I switched. I think that the Chlorine and Infection rates play into this. 1. Chlorine: when I bottled, water...

    Taking apart my Corny

Good call, took the pressure valves apart and there was some sediment in them. I'll definitely do that for now on.

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer None More Black Vanilla Stout

I made this a while ago. I took it easy and did the extract brewing method. I am almost at the bottom of the keg. *sigh. This was possibly my favorite beer I've made so far. It turned out Smooth, almost with a semi-dry feel, and a wonderful, slight hint of vanilla. Great, great Recipe...

    Edelweiss Dunkel... Kind of

So I brewed this last weekend and had decided to do an Edelweiss Dunkel clone from "Clone Brews." I decided to go all out and to 10 gallons since I have the equipment to handle it. Come brew day I realized I ordered 5 lbs short of one of the grains I needed! Whoops, well damn, I'm brewing...

    Our Homebrew Rig

UPDATE So I decided to make our Homebrew Rig usable while we work out the finer parts of the project. I simply wired the 2 march 209 pumps into switches that control each one individually. It is simple but one can do a lot with 2 usable pumps. Here's the rig doing some re-circulation prior to...

Has anyone tried the Brutus CRS method for mashing? How did your efficiency turn out?

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer None More Black Vanilla Stout

That's it. I'm brewing this one. My favorite beer in the world is a Vanilla Stout from my local brewery and I've been looking for a good recipe. I think I'm sold. Has anyone tried the converted all grain recipe? How did it turn out? I'm going to add some oatmeal and add in some special...

off flavor - medicinal/band-aid - i know chlorine BUT help me solve the puzzle

So anyways, I bottled a week ago with distilled water used in every aspect of cleaning and the boiling sugar etc and star san and so far the beer has turned out absolutely fantastic, its not completely carbonated yet but has not one trace of band aid in it at all. I am pretty excited and will...

off flavor - medicinal/band-aid - i know chlorine BUT help me solve the puzzle

UPDATE Just to fill yall in on a little test I just bottled my most recent beer today that was originally made with my regular chlorinated tap water. Well anyways, I know that it is very possible that the chlorinated water originally used to make my brew could be the problem, but I ran a little...

    COSTCO brand beer?

The best product at Costco by far is the Artichoke Jalepino Dip. I can't explain the awesomeness of this dip. It may go well with the two Costco beers that are good.

    Our Homebrew Rig

I read the whole thread and that is the conclusion that I came to. I have a very big feeling that if exploding steel due to heat was a problem with propane homebrewing, there would probably be more than one case. Thanks for the opinions though. Either way, if bursting tubular steel is a big...

    Our Homebrew Rig

I will not be drilling relief holes, really showing a bunch of rips in some sealed metal containers has nothing to do with welding some tubular steel together. Come off it.

    COSTCO brand beer?

I've had them all, here are my Beer Ap ratings for them: KS Amber Ale : 3.5/5 KS German Lager: 3.5/5 KS Pale Ale 1.5/5 KS Signature Hefeweissen: 0.5/5 All in all the Amber and German that I had were fantastic for widely produced commercial beers. The Pale Ale was okay, and the Hefe was not...

Never dump your beer!!! Patience IS a virtue!!! Time heals all things, even beer!

Ha! Love it! I had a similar story with a Newcastle Clone of mine. Tasted like butt for the first few months. Then, when I had "tasted" so much there were only about 16 left, something magical happened. It has a happy ending though, I bootlegged the final 12 to some friends at a school picnic...

    Water chemistry Primer questions/advice

The science behind the water is somewhat of a revelation to me as of late. There's so much that I was ignorant of that I feel like my head will explode soon. I will return and reread all of the water postings over the next few days until my small brain can handle the information.
