    Improving my CFC?

I bought a cheap 12 dollar heater core from a Ford truck at the local parts store and added two feet of heater hose on the ends. The hose got terminated with garden hose repair ends. Once I hit cooling threshold for groundwater I would throw it in a bucket, cover with a couple pounds of ice...

Hop back/hop filter idea. Your thoughts?

Ok. Build went fine, but I came to the realization my step-bits need to be replaced. I still want to find a perforated steel false bottom for it though. The included basket is rather shallow, but should work fine to catch larger chunks.

Hop back/hop filter idea. Your thoughts?

OK. I ordered my fittings and brush washer. Hopefully all parts will be in next week. I'll post info after build.

    flow metre

If you can, stay away from those cheap plastic ones. I'm currently having issues with mine leaking at the seams.

Asl-51 timer/ counter with flowmeter question

That's what I was figuring. I plumbed my water system today, and did a low pressure test. The flowmeter is leaking along its seams, so I may scrap the idea until I find a better meter to use. Luckily, its easy to delete for now.

Asl-51 timer/ counter with flowmeter question

I have been accumulating parts for my ongoing project of semi- automating my brewstand. So far the pids and wiring is not an issue, but rather a hair-brained idea. BbI would like to have an easy water fill for my HLT; as in program a counter to fill ten gallons via a solenoid valve and...

Hop back/hop filter idea. Your thoughts?

Most all spec with stainless. Some are chrome plated, but it will be stainless for sure when I get one.

Hop back/hop filter idea. Your thoughts?

Guess it's a bad idea. Oh well. I'll source one next payday and build anyway. I'll post pics and progress.

Hop back/hop filter idea. Your thoughts?

I've recently started upgrading the brewery, including a large plate chiller. I usually always use whole cone hops, but occasionally need to use pellets. My current kettle hop-stopper has large 1/4 inch holes, and stops most of it, but After seeing some horror stories of clogs, I thought of an...

    Are SSRs really necessary?

I have seen multiple build here that use those exact valves for gas, and even some that have used them for liquid. So far, I have not heard of any issues with them.

    $8.50 Hop strainer

I thought about using mesh on it when I first got it. After my experiance with the tea ball, I decided to stay away from mesh. It worked well enough that I decided not to do anything to is. Of coarse its no Blickman hopblocker, but does the job at hand. The other idea I had for it was to loosly...

    $8.50 Hop strainer

I found this at Ikea. Its a stainless utensil holder. It was about 6inches tall, but I trimmed it down to about 3 inches to fit the dip tube. I use a lot of whole leaf, and this suprisingly blocks about 95% of the leaf. If I let it settle after chilling, I get about the same percent with...

    $8.50 Hop strainer

Do not bother trying this if you are using a pump. I completely collapsed the same tea ball in a mildly hopped pale ale. Worst part was it happened in less than a minute as I was transfering into my fermenter. Had to Star san my arm and pull it off. Beer came out fine, but lesson learned.

Backsweetened my punkin ale, but now its too sweet. help!

Thanks for the help everyone. I did alot of searching first, but was not satisfied with most answers I found. So when you used coffee, what ratio did you use? I may experiment a little tonight with different things and see what may help. What does anyone think about making a 30minute...

Backsweetened my punkin ale, but now its too sweet. help!

It is actually cold and fully carbed. It was a basic pumpkin all grain recipe with NO added suger. I do like the LME/DME idea, but I really don't know if it would be drinkable by Saturday. I may just do the dme and just take the loss for the weekend.

Backsweetened my punkin ale, but now its too sweet. help!

Made a pumpkin ale and everything in perfect except it finished at 1.004. Way too dry! I decided to back sweeten with splenda so it didn't ferment out. My Main problem is that it took two days for the sweetness to fully come through, and the sweetener was added with several steps within 24...

    Mobile kegerator

I made this one from a liqueur store drink merchandiser. I just had to cut out the bottom, sink in a 5 gallon bucket, build a drain and insulated with a sh*t-ton of spray foam. I build a reg that runs off slim paintball tanks that fits inside with the keg. Will hold 20 pounds of ice for at least...
