    BG-14 Alternatives?

It's been a while since I've been here, and it's been a couple of years since I've brewed a beer if I'm being honest. In any event, I needed to replace the wheels on my brew rig, and after getting them squared away, realized that one of the mounts on one of my burners had snapped off. The rig...

    Single burner stand

I've got a single tier already, and it can be hauled around using my smoker. Sometimes when using the smoker, I want to be able to boil a pot of salt potatoes, or heat up some sauce/melt some butter. And yeah, that's why we (father and I) designed the single tier to have all the brewing stuff be...

How do you get hops to grow horizontally?

I've got three raised beds with a 14' veritcal trellis. At the top, it makes a right turn and is tied off on the garage. I'll take some pics when I get home tonight. So now, one part of my Nugget is past the top. I've let it grow a bit, and then wrapped it around the line going horizontally...

    Chili ideas

So I take my smoker down to the Temple Football games to tailgate with. While not a graduate of the school, it's pure fun. That's beside the point. The people on "Tailgate Row" have gotten together to have a "Tailgate Chili Cookoff" at the next home game. Rules are pretty simple, doesn't have to...

Pennsylvania FREE bottles - all sizes

I have a TON of bottles. We helped a friend of a friend, and cleaned out their bottle collection. I have them sorted by 12 oz, 22 oz, 350 ml, 750 ml, fliptops. They still have labels on them. But the good news is, some are pretty old so the labels should come off with a quick PBW/oxyclean soak...

Take too long to "pull" your pork?

Do your hands cramp up shredding your pork? Do they get to hot trying to pull it by hand? Check out the "Roman Pork Puller". I got this for christmas from my father. Well, I'll let the video do it's talking...

Anyone have a good baked bean recipe?

We have a group brew day at our place this saturday. I'm looking to do some smoked baked beans. Anyone have a tried and true recipe? I've got a couple from some search's, but nothing with any feedback on it. Maybe one with some bourbon in it? Making 4 butts at the same time.

1st timer with some questions about raised boxes and trellis

Hey all, My wife wants to enter the world of vegetable gardens this year, so I figured it's a good time to finally start growing hops as well (if I'm going to dig up the backyard, might as well do it all at once). We're going to be doing a set of raised boxes for the garden and the hops. From...

Anyone on Oahu with a pot they are looking to sell?

My BIL lives somewhere up on the North Shore (exactly where, I forget at the moment), but we're getting him an outdoor propane cooker for his birthday so he can get out of the kitchen. I'm trying to find a 10 gal pot so he can start doing full wort boils. I know things are expensive out there...

    Wooden Beer Crates

So I've looked at some of the beer crates on here, and I liked some of the ideas, but wanted some that would look nice even if they were stacked up in our bar area (since we have no storage in our house). I came up with a design for 12 oz bottles, that includes a sliding top to help keep light...

Sour beers, corny kegs, and your kegerator - Scared?

My wife and I have started to brew some sour beers, and I do not really have alot of space in my house for bottle storage. Does anyone keg up their sour beers and run them on their home setups? Do you designate that line as your sour line from there on out? Or does a good PBW cleaning/sanitizing...

Bottling High ABV beer when the yeast has pooped out - suggestions?

So here's the pertinent info. Memorial day we did a barrel brew of a Russian Imperial Stout. This was pitched into a 53 gal Bourbon Barrel (that apparently still had some bourbon in it, how much I do not know). This beer was pulled out of the barrel last night and I would like to get this sucker...

Blichman Beer Gun Cleaning - Safe to Boil?

Ok, I have one of these beer guns. Due to laziness, and me forgetting about the gun for a month, I came back to find the bucket it was in had gotten some nasty crap in it. The gun itself is coated in the slime. I obviously have to replace the tubing, but was going to take the entire thing apart...

    How far will Brett go?

Backstory: My wife brewed her first solo beer on our beer rig (I left detailed instructions, but had to run errands, which was fine with her). She forgot to cut the heat to the MLT when she was doughing in, and by the time she realized it and cut the heat, the mast was up to 175-180ish. I...

What do you like about your Homebrew Club?

My wife and I run a club out of Chestnut Hill that has been pretty small for the past few years (lucky to get 8 people at times). That said, we have been gaining members at a decent rate lately. I like the format of our club at the moment, but fear if we grow too large, it may be tough to keep...

    1 Barrel Brew Challenge

Ok, so the PLAN was to be getting strike water up to temp by 6am this morning. Like all good plans, things happen. Our hockey team finally won a game last night, so we were celebrating a little later than I had originally planned. That said, I've finally doughed in on the first of 5 brews. The...

    Good Crush?

Does this look like a good crush? Sorry, first time with my own mill, not 100% sure if what I have here is good. Mill: Monster Mill 3-2.0 Gap: .043" When I moved it to .045", the stationary non drive roller wouldn't spin. At .043 it chewed threw the grain no problem. Want to make sure...
