I have a Cream Ale waiting to be brewed, and I like the idea of adding either a blueberry or raspberry flavor. Gotta be honest, fresh fruit prices are kinda high for the amount of fruit I think it would take for a 5 gallon batch (I have heard/read 5-8 lbs of berries to get any flavor). Even...
I am doing the keg thing for the first time and force kegging a batch of Irish stout. Question is about force carbing. I set the regulator to 15 lbs and the keg is at 48 degree storage temp. How long should it take to fully force carb the beer? I have been gently rolling the keg every once in a...
everyone on here are enablers! enablers, the lot of you!
I have one batch in the fermenter just waiting to be kegged, and then the next kit is on the shelf waiting to be brewed, fermented, and then kegged!
Maybe more kegs are going to be needed :-)
Keg kit arrived today...very quick shipping...less than a week! Everything was nicely packed and very secure.
Opened up and everything looks fantastic. Regulator/hoses/CO2 tank are in perfect new condition. Corny kegs are really good quality. All Orings replaced and very clean inside and...
Ordered a 2 keg kit today from kegconnection.com Should allow me to get more brews going and ready for drinking at any given time. just need to clear out the bottom of the cooler to make room for the kegs!
So I have now had several different taste testers of my first batch. Overall consensus is it came out pretty good. The range you find for people's reviews is astonishing. You get the ones who of course say they like it, but deep down you know they are really afraid to even try a home brewed...
So I had a Sam Adams Irish red last night...happy to report it as well had very little head. Maybe it is just this style of beer? Nonetheless I think my home brew takes the win for taste over Sam...sorry Sam :-)
Brewing my second batch tomorrow or Sunday. For my first one I just added the hop pellets straight to the boil and didn't keep them filtered or anything. Everything was fine, but just hate having all the gunk floating in the wort and fermenter. I have not bought the nylon or mesh bags that...
I didn't search before posting this...I see there are already quite a few threads on this system in the forums.
Mods - feel free to delete this post. I would but not exactly sure how to, or if I can?
So has anyone seen the new Williams Warn Personal Brewery? Looks like a company out of New Zealand with a solid product. Claims to make "world class" brew in 7 days with everything built into one unit. Straight from ingredients to tap in 7 days...interesting concept. They say you can use any kit...
I am a Trading Operations Engineer...does that count :-)
In my past life I was a Nuclear Engineer in the Navy, and did some Facility Engineering when I first got out.
Popped open my first bottle of my first batch...Irish Red Ale extract kit. I must say, I was very impressed with the flavor and test of the beer. Had decent carbonation...nice hiss as well when popping the top.
When pouring the beer though I noticed there was little to no head. Maybe it is...
I just bottled my first batch from Midwest and used nothing but the easy clean that came with the kit...so far so good. Tastings after primary fermentation were good. I think you'll/we'll be fine.
That bottling wand is a lifesaver! The bottling went really quick...it is all the pre cleaning and sanitizing that takes a long time!
Got a couple kits in my cart ready to go...just need to pull the trigger.
