    Don't like torrified wheat

I did a recipe, it was pretty good. So I'm doing it again, but it has 6oz torrified wheat. The beer looks hazy to me, and I can taste a tiny bit of that "wheat beer-ness." I'm very sensitive. So I think I should skip the TW, but what should I add instead? I have a bunch of maltodextrin, will...

What kind of yeast should I use?

I "formulated" my own recipe: I just put a few recipes together. I want a yeast that won't give a huge head, I think just an American Ale yeast. I am doing an ale by the way. Ingredients Quantity Grain 1.00 lb Light D.M.E. 1.00 lb Flaked rye >>I might use a pils malt instead of these...

    English style pale-ale

Didn't know that, thanks. It spiked up to 160 so I turned the heat off and it slowly went down to 135. It has been fermenting since 5/13 and it smells amazing.

    English style pale-ale

I adapted Charlie Papazian's Good Life pale-ale to a partial mash. I used Mt Hood hops instead of American Crystal, because the HBS didnt have Crystal. When steeping the grains, the temp went way up, but I don't think that will be a huge problem.

Recipe for Bud Light Lime clone?

I don't care for fruit in beer. HOWEVER I do like Corona with lime, I think if you did a regular blonde or cream ale and served with a lime wedge in it, that would work. Or just force carbonate pee.

Dead mouse in carboy, would you use it?

Charlie Papazian has a recipe where you use a chicken in your boil, maybe you could make mouse beer?

    Recipe + Question

I never use soap on anything for brewing. I always use a bleach/water mix to clean everything. jfr made a good point about the glasses, I put those in the dishwasher but maybe I should rinse them really well with hot water. I think my dishwasher has a hot water only setting too.

    Recipe + Question

I kept it in my basement, so it was cool and dark. I guess about 50-60F? And as of last nighght it has been bottled 2 and a half weeks. I'm impatient, too. It had a little head, it was carbonated, I like head on beer. I really like hops, but I'm seasonal. I go for lager style beers in the summer.

    Recipe + Question

I made Charlie Papazian's Palilalia IPA but I made a few changes and I thought it turned out well: I used 6 pounds of liquid amber extract instead of whatever they wanted. I used two ounces NB hopes instead of 1.75 I used 1 ounce cascade to boil + 1 ounce dry hop cascade The question is...

    Birch Beer Ale?

I have Birch Beer extract. I tried the whole deal where you put it in sugar water and add champagne yeast, I wasnt too thrilled. Is there a way I could add it to a beer recipe? Maybe a red ale? :fro:
