How long can my wort sit before I start mt boil?

So here I am replying to my own post....I just did a search (like I shoulda done before I posted) and found that some do this, even overnight. So I guess I'll be OK. But, what's everyones input on this...Do I just let the mash sit for a few hours or should I sparge when I have the time and let...

How long can my wort sit before I start mt boil?

So here's my deal. I have my two sons (1 & 2 years) all day on my days off while the wife's working. I want to do my mash in the kitchen and keep an eye on the curtain climbers at the same time. Then boil later outside in my keggle when my better half gets home. My plan is to mash late...

Specialty IPA: Red IPA India Red Ale

Dumb question for the recipe...is "Munich type 1 (10L)" the same thing as "Weyermann Cara Munich I"? The SRM is way off with this on Brewmasters Warehouse. Though I am using am American IPA as a guideline and this is a Red IPA.

Does this recipe need Carapils or no?

Thanks. Didn't know that. Hopefully it wont matter much to me soon. Jumping to all-grain next month!:rockin:

    My Brew Sculpture

Any updated photos? How's she working out for ya? I'm still looking ahead to mine, hopefully this summer. Your rig and another one on this board are gonna meet in the middle to make my own. Can't wait.

Should I be conerned about this high ferm temp?

Well, I racked this bad boy to my secondary tonight. All is good! Definitely some banana in it but it tasted great. I was very happy with it. Put her on 3#'s of peaches as planned. Thanks guys.

    Help calculating dogfish 90 mash

A good friend of mine used to work for DFH for many years. In 2006 I had the opportunity to brew a batch of 60 minute with one of the brewers, so of course I took him up on it. I had taken a break from home brewing at the time so I didn't take notes. Kicking myself now! FWIW, at that...

Should I be conerned about this high ferm temp?

Thanks, I'll give it till this Sunday when I pull a gravity test and sample it.

Should I be conerned about this high ferm temp?

Hey all, I brewed an DME wheat on Sunday using Wyeast 3068 Weihenstephan Wheat yeast. Made a healthy starter and pitched at 70*. My problem is this: I had to place the carboy on my freezer for space reasons. I was looking to ferment on the high end of the scale. Optimum temp: 64°-75° F. The...

Anyone know where to find these glasses?

Here's the true pint version of what you just posted. http://beergeekshop.com/the-fish-head-glass-p-21.html FWIW...I have a bunch of these glasses my buddy at DFH gave me. He hated them for the brewpub, couldn't stack em. But I love em...they pour perfect and look cool.

Lol, will do. Tomorrow's brew schedule is a Hefe and an IPA....two brews in a day is why I went and dug up the old carboy. Thanks again.

Old rubber bung in my carboy....

IT WORKED!!! Thanks Gunner65, I owe ya a beer. Just saved me $25 and an afternoon of frustration trying to get that thing outta there before I inevitably through the carboy in the street!

Old rubber bung in my carboy....

WOW! Thanks. I'm gonna give that a shot....looks too easy but I hope it works with a tapered rubber bung. I think that was David Copperfield, I couldn't see his face!

Old rubber bung in my carboy....

So I just dug out one of my old glass carboys and realized I had got a rubber bung stuck down the thing about 6 years ago. To make matters worse it has a bunch of crud in it. Do you think I can clean/sanitize this thing well enough to use it?

Does this recipe need Carapils or no?

Thanks guys. I'm going to do away with the Carapils altogether, maybe lower the 20L a bit. I've only been to this LHBS twice, nice place but I'll think twice before I take that guys advice on recipes again. Gropo: Good call on the hop schedule. I'm actually looking for more flavor so I'll...

Does this recipe need Carapils or no?

I'm doing an IPA this weekend and I'm not sure if I should be using any Carapils in this brew. I wasoriginally going to steep 1/2 lb but the guy at the LHBS advised me to just steep the whole pound I purchased from him. After reading more about the Carapils, I'm not sure if he's correct. Here's...
