Questions about the 5500 2 Element 30a EStop PID

That's what I figured. I couldn't figure out how he assumed the fuse would blow. I'm no electrician but I've done most of the updated electrical work in my house that was built in 1802. Which is pretty much everything. The knob and tube wiring was barely retired by the time I bought the house...

Questions about the 5500 2 Element 30a EStop PID

I plan on using a gfci breaker in my main breaker box. What exactly would happen if I hit the estop button while plugged into the receptacle wired to this breaker? Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Questions about the 5500 2 Element 30a EStop PID

I had a friend look over the diagram for the 5500 2 element 30a EStop PID diagram. He is telling me that the EStop switch will not cut the power and it will just blow the fuse. Can anyone explain why this would or wouldn't happen? Other than that I have a pretty solid understanding of the...

    1 pid, 2 ssr, 110v?

What switches would need to be used in this diagram? I'm assuming you can use any 120v 3-5a switch for the pumps. But what about the heating elements? 120v 20a switches? or do you need a contactor for the elements?

    Recipe advice for an IPA

I've read a lot of mixed opinions about bittering with Citra. Some say it works out well for them and others say it has an off flavor. The whole point of this particular batch is to see what qualities I like about Citra on it's own. I will also be using the same recipe, but using Centennial by...

    Recipe advice for an IPA

Thanks for all of the input. It's great to get feedback so quickly. I don't want to use anything other than the Citra for this particular beer. I want a good baseline to start playing with. I have adjusted the grains to include a half pound of white wheat and some crystal. As for the yeast I've...

    Recipe advice for an IPA

I think this recipe is too complex after doing a bit more research I think I'm just going to go with a SMaSH recipe. It'll be more inline with what I want to do which is discover the properties of the ingredients. I've decided to go with the following. 12lbs Pale 2-row 1oz Citra 60min 1oz...

    Recipe advice for an IPA

Thanks for the advice! What should I add more of to replace the crystal I'll be removing from the recipe? About the hops, I was under the impression the earlier you add the hops to the wort the more flavor you extract and the later you add them the less they impart flavor and more aroma. Is this...

    Recipe advice for an IPA

I've brewed a few batches of beer from recipe kits. They have all turned out pretty well. I want to start experimenting with hops on a basic IPA recipe. This is what I have so far. I'll be doing a partial mash, 5 gallon batch. The first batch I want to only use Citra hops. I want to isolate...

    Extremely Bitter Rye pale ale...help!

I used the secondary the first few batches I brewed but pretty much found it pointless. The hop residue usually drops for me as well. It's got a great aroma, but it's just really bitter. I definitely think you're right about it being pretty early. I guess I'll let it sit for another week or so...

    Extremely Bitter Rye pale ale...help!

About 4 weeks ago I started a brewer's best rye pale ale. Everything went well and it's been in the primary for about 4 weeks now. I dry hopped with 2oz of cascade and 1oz of simcoe pellets. I'm debating on leaving it in the primary for another couple of weeks because it's still pretty cloudy. I...

Just tasted my first ever homebrew.

I love DFH 60min 90min and 120min are my three favorite beers ever. I'm from Delaware so I grew up 20 mins from the brewery and love the brew pub. The kit I used was a partial extract so I feel pretty confident about trying it again. I'll definitely have to check out this 60min sounds like...

Just tasted my first ever homebrew.

I have definitely had Two Hearted and it's a great beer. I'll keep that in mind.

Just tasted my first ever homebrew.

I've waited 4 and a half long weeks to taste this beer. I was an anxious mess the entire time. My fears have been set aside. I bottled just a little over a week ago. I know I should have waited another week or so but I couldn't resist and I'm glad I didn't. It tastes amazing. I got a brewer's...
