Resetting Refrigerator/freezer Thermostat for normal operation

I have been using my fridge/freezer for fermenting but now I want to revert it back to normal use. What position should I set the dial to for recalibrating? IE: I imagine I should put the capillary tube in ice water, set the dial to max cool and adjust the cutout to trip at that temp. Does...

    No precipitation in starter

I have had my starter going for about 24 hours now on the stir plate and I can't observe any precipitation when I stop it for 5 min. This is the first time I use a stir plate. Is this normal? Edit: saw some clouding when starting it back up.

    New Stand with CIP

Here's my new stand complete with a pump that I got for free from my cousin (THANKS!). It's a nice step up from a wire shelving rack on cinder blocks. The drain assembly can be removed to clean out any stubborn grains that get washed into the little nooks and crannies. The sink I found on...

    Solder Flange of element?

It's zinc plated carbon steel for those who would like to know.

    Solder Flange of element?

A rod with a hook can be slipped into the clamp knob that is upright and spun off. As to the danger, by the time I'm whirlpooling, I'm done with the heat and disconnect it. As with any electrical system, there are inherent risks. One would not start servicing an electrical outlet with the...

    Solder Flange of element?

This would give me the shortest package for a pseudo airlock configuration that would allow me to disconnect the power leads, put on a tri clamp cap, and remove the element while the vessel is full.

    Solder Flange of element?

I'd like to mount it straight to a tri clamp.

    Solder Flange of element?

Is it possible to solder to the flange of the element directly? Does anyone know what metal/alloy it is?

    Custom Wire Basket

It's a #20 mesh. I think, now that I've seen it, that the #30 might have been a better choice but I think that this will give better longevity, which is critical at this price point. I'll be brewing tomorrow so we'll see how it goes. I'm doing a decoction so the basket actually does double...

    Custom Wire Basket

Some of us have read or discussed the custom baskets from http://www.anysizebasket.com. I bit the bullet after a number of my cooling sessions drove me crazy with pellet hop clogged intakes. Some may call it overkill, but dead is dead and I'm sure my draining problems will be over after this...

    Magnetic stirrer scrubber?

Has anyone ever attached some green scouring pads to a stirrer bar to clean some of those stubborn buildups inside vessels?

goulds shallow well pump for cip

I don't know how cast iron will stand up to PBW. I also don't know if the seals will taint the cleaning solution. I am also concerned about temperatures causing a premature failure.

    Banner Picnic Tap CO2 Adapter?

I have a Banner picnic tap that has a piston style air pump for dispensing. I'd like to switch it over to CO2 but it has a female threaded port for the air inlet. Does anyone have a adapter/coupler for this purpose? The threads are straight and measure .712 in diameter on the male pump part...

goulds shallow well pump for cip

Now I know that I probably won't like the answer to this question but I will put it out there anyways. My cousin just removed her shallow well pump. It is a multi stage pump. It generates quite a bit of pressure and a great deal of volume. Is there any way I could engineer this thing to work out...
